Contest. She has the opportunity
to participate in the annual parade
on Saturday the 14 th , the prayer
breakfast at the Westin on Monday,
Jan. 16 th where she will receive her winner’s honorarium,
as well as being allowed to share her essay at the Gantt
on Monday, Jan. 16 th . Great job Briana!

MR. THEISSEN IN THE NEWS
Our very own Art Instructor, Mr. Theissen, was featured
in the Charlotte Observer yesterday about
McColl’s 8 artists-in-residence. He is the CMS art
teacher-in-residence at McColl this session. From
the article:
DAVID THEISSEN Charlotte resident Theissen is the
CMS art teacher-in-residence at McColl this session.
He finds beauty in structured yet simple compositions
that are often unobserved. A painter, he uses ordinary
and familiar cityscapes as backdrops for still,
deserted streets to kindle feelings of alienation, solitude
and despair.
SCHOOL DANCE!

the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Tickets will be $10 and
will be on sale at a first-come first-serve basis

SHOCKER SPORTS
BOYS BASKETBALL
In a fast-paced and physical game against Kennedy Middle School on Monday,
the boys basketball team came away with a hard-fought loss, 38-27.
Zach Rabinowitz led the team in scoring with 8 points, including a threepointer.
Matthew Kagan knocked in 3 baskets for 6 points, Brad Scharf
contributed a jumper and 3 free throws for 5 points, Jake Anderson had a
jumper and 2 free throws for a total of 4 points, and Nick Bruno and Patrick
Hogan each scored 2 points.
The boys basketball team was defeated by the JM Robinson Chargers on
Thursday, Jan. 12. Jake Anderson was the leading scorer with 7 points, including
a three-point basket. Malcum Tatum, Zach Rabinowitz and Jackson
Perry each contributed 2 points. The next home game will be Thursday,
Jan. 19 against Crestdale. The boys game begins at 4:30 followed immediately
by the girls' game. Come support our Shockers.
A reminder to all Winter Sport Athletes:
Winter Sports Pictures will be taken Tuesday, Jan. 17th at
3:30 in the gym. Have your money and forms ready to
turn in to Lifetouch.
