BCITP Net Meeting

Focus: Steps towards an independent association

Kaneda, Natalia Usserman, Berta Lopera, Annette Sharkey and Luciana Coman
9:30 – 10:15 Information Session offered by Annette to our new member: Mitsuyo Kaneda, an
Art Teacher from Japan. Bin Wen a Software Engineer from China attended for the first time
to our meetings. We would like to thank you for their time!
Members registered and networked over a cup of coffee.
10:15 – 11:00 Overview of the Project
Our goals to have a Forum and the Successful Stories – section on the website were
successfully implemented
• Website Committee – forum information – Luciana/Natalia
Luciana and Natalia presented us a short overview of the BCITP Net Forum.
Participants were informed about the necessity of register as a BCITP Net Forum
member to be able to start posting new topics or replying to the existing one. Please
visit our website www.bcitp.net, Discussion Forum to view the new information.

Luciana Coman provided updates from the Capacity BC:
ITP Forum being planned and launched on Okanagan on September 24
Capacity BC Position Draft Papers, Gabi, Lana and Berta will provide feedback to
move forward as a collective voice of Internationally Trained Professionals in BC.

11:00 – 12:00 Process to Becoming an Independent Society – Berta Lopera
1. Proposed name for the society: “ Okanagan ITP ”. All the members who attended the
meeting approved the name.
2. Berta will send us the mission of the society and the bylaw in draft to be reviewed and
approved by the members.
3. A society must be formed by at least 5 persons. We need to define five directors.
Participants of the meeting decided to invite members who are interested to be part of
the Board to send us their request along with a short description in maximum 200
words.
4. Fee for becoming a member of the society: The group proposed a fee of 25 CAN/year
for becoming a member of “ Okanagan ITP ”
5. Before registering as a society, Annette will consult with the Management Team
regarding the transition, funding for registration etc.
12:00 – 1:30 Goal setting for becoming a society
• Consult members – survey, Ann Lu will pursue conversation – phone (calls less formal)
to find out what’s working/what’s not and how we can keep new members involved
with the group.
• Gabi, Lana and Berta will provide feedback for Capacity BC Position Draft Papers
• Luciana and Berta will coordinate and send out an e-mail inviting ITP’s to express their
desire to be part of the “Okanagan ITP” Board. Members will be asked to send along
their description in maximum 200 words.
• Annette will consult Management Team to find out process for the transition from
becoming a project within BCITP Net to an independent society
1:30 – 2:30 Wrap up, Networking, Refreshments
