digital photographer of the year awards 2010 Welcome… the time has come to reveal the winners of the Digital Photographer of the Year Awards 2010 This year we’ve had a record number of entries, tripling what we received in last year’s competition! And the standard has been as high as ever, making the judging process a very tough and lengthy one indeed. With entries pinging into my inbox thick and fast from across the globe, it’s been a very exciting six months watching all of the photos start stacking up. Congratulations to all of you who entered into this year’s awards. Take a look at who has triumphed in each category and see who has claimed the overall title as the Digital Photographer of the Year 2010! Rosie Tanner, Editor Meet the judges ● Debbi Allen, Editor in chief, Digital Photographer Debbi has spent over eight years working in consumer magazines. Whilst at Imagine Publishing she propelled Digital Photographer to become one of the UK’s fastest-growing photographic titles. She oversees the photographic department and is responsible for launching the first ever DPOTY Awards back in 2007. ● Eamonn McCabe, Picture Editor, The Guardian Eamonn made his name as a sports photographer. In 1988, he joined The Guardian newspaper as a picture editor enlisted to revitalise the paper’s picture coverage. In the forthcoming years, he was named Picture Editor of the Year five times. He has gradually moved into portraiture and has an impressive portfolio. ● Rosie Tanner, Editor, Digital Photographer Rosie has contributed to Digital Photographer for over four years and took over as editor last year. She has previously worked on a variety of photographic and creative magazines and studied photography during this time. She loves travel and reportage photography and is never without her camera when abroad. I arranged them into an appealing display. I used a softbox to the right and a piece of white card as a reflector to the left” ● Steve Mitchell, General manager of marketing, Samsung Digital Imaging Steve’s got his finger on the pulse when it comes to camera innovations and the types of features photographers want to see in new models.
