PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd. Implementing EDI
With Quantum Control Aviation ERP Software
SAN DIEGO, Calif., February 4, 2011 – Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd., a Colorado-based aircraft
completions center and subsidiary of Switzerland-based Pilatus Aircraft Ltd., recently upgraded its
Quantum Control aviation enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to use Component Control’s
Oracle-based Max-Q platform to facilitate electronic data interchange (EDI) between the two
geographically-separated organizations.
“From the moment an aircraft arrives from Switzerland, we begin tracking all transactions, including
the parts, labor and materials required to complete the aircraft,” said Pilatus Business Aircraft
controller David Kodey. “We have a high volume of purchase transactions with our parent company
and are implementing an EDI solution to send purchase orders electronically without the need to rekey
them into their ERP platform.”
Pilatus Business Aircraft first implemented Quantum Control as its ERP platform in 2001 for shop
control, purchasing, quotation processing, receiving and inspection, inventory management and other
business processes. Pilatus’ original Quantum system used Windows Server architecture to provide
databasing and multi-user support. According to Kodey, upgrading to Max-Q on the Oracle
database was essential for exporting EDI transactions but also provided other immediate benefits.
“Although EDI was the main reason for the upgrade, the Oracle platform also gave us Event
Scheduler, which allows us to post General Ledger transactions, run reports, and email results over
night so we have the information we need when we arrive in the morning,” said Kodey. “The Oracle
database is also faster and more robust, offers enhanced security features and provides additional
tools for database integrity checking.”
PILATUS / COMPONENT CONTROL PG 2
Quantum Control is an aviation-specific ERP platform combining MRO, Aircraft Services, Hangar
Management, Inventory management, Accounting, E-commerce, Sales and Invoicing, and other
business functions into one integrated software suite.
“Quantum provides transparency and visibility of actual costs for each aircraft completed,” said Kodey.
“From a financial perspective, it gives me a lot of control but doesn’t create a lot of unnecessary work
to get that visibility. We are always looking for ways to reduce paperwork and take advantage of
technology to increase efficiency. Quantum allowed us to start down the paperless path, and now EDI
will be another big step.”
