Welcome to the Summer
newsletter. It has been a really
show busy season so far which is
reflected in the number of show
results in the newsletter, including
the results from the very successful
first National Show at the East
of England Show, Peterborough
on 17-19 June We had an excellent
turnout of cattle and the Show
Society looked after us very well.
We are now looking forward to
2012 when the National Show
takes place at the Three Counties
Show.
The National Show & Sale took
place at Stoneleigh on 12/13
August and this year we shared
the venue with the Red Poll Cattle
Society. We had a good entry of
cattle and prices were buoyant.

prices of the cattle sold.
The deadline for the Annual Journal
is fast approaching and I
would encourage all members to
consider taking an advert. The
Journal is much admired by other
breeds and gets seen by a great
number of potential members
during the year. Advertising rates
Also enclosed with this newsletter is
the booking form for the AGM in
North Yorkshire and the nomination
form for Council. Please return
these forms by the deadlines stated
if you are interested in coming to the
AGM or standing for Council.
The Winter Fairs season isn’t far
away now and the Society will have
a stand at Agri-Expo Carlisle; the
English Winter Fair Stafford and the
East of England, incorporating the
Smithfield classes at Peterborough.
Dates for all these events are in the
newsletter, along with the dates for
the upcoming Autumn stock sales.
Behind the scenes the website is
currently undergoing an upgrade
and a gentle redesign. You’ll still be
able to find everything you want, and
in some areas you’ll be able to
access information easier than at
present and the site will have a more
up to date feel about it. The current
site has been with us since 2007
which is the dark ages as far as
computer and web technology is
concerned so its time it was refreshed.
You should see the results
of our work towards the end of the
year.
