WILD WALK AT THE BISHOP’S RANCH
OCTOBER 27
AN ADVENTURE THROUGH OUR BIG BACKYARD WITH SEAN SWIFT
Explore little known trails and habitat diversity at The Bishop's Ranch. Situated
above the Russian River, the Ranch lies between the wetter conifer forests, and
the heavily cultivated river floodplain with its remnant riparian forest. Be
will be a rambling one, with time to discuss what we see. Bring a daypack,
sturdy shoes, water, hat, and rain gear if necessary; binoculars and camera
optional.
When: Saturday, October 27
Where: The Bishop’s Ranch, 5297 Westside Road, Healdsburg
✥ WELCOME TO ST. CLEMENT’S ✥
If you are visiting today please introduce yourself to us and complete one
of the cards on the back of the pew. This may be placed in the offering
plate, given to an usher, or handed to the clergy. If you have questions
about the order of service, please ask your neighbor in the pew.
Copies of our parish newsletter, The Clarion, are available at the doors
of the church and in Palache Hall.
We hope you will join us for coffee next door in Palache Hall after the
service. Help yourself to a name tag on the kiosk in the parish hall.
the Children’s Chapel at 10:00 AM, then break out into their classrooms,
ST. MARY’S COOKBOOK
The deadline for submitting recipes for the new St. Mary’s cookbook has
been extended until October 15th. So many people have been out of town
that it was thought to be a good idea to extend the date.
DO NOT MISS this opportunity to submit favorite recipe(s) in the new
edition. Recipe forms are in the church every Sunday and can be left at
the church office, sent by email to bigrat8@yahoo.com or sent to
THEOLOGY ON TAP—EXTREME
The folks at the University Chapel invite you to a discussion of deep and
engaging theological topics over a nice pint of beer. What could be
better? Come join us at International House Cafe at 5:30 PM, Tuesday,
October 2, for our second Theology on Tap—Extreme! This month we'll
be discussing the modern pace of living, technology's influence on our
sense of time, and how we can mindfully inhabit our daily lives.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE
The 2012-2013 Outreach Committee has a number of new and returning
members this year: Jane Brooks, Megan Colwell, Emily Goldwaser, Peg
Healy, Jeremy Lawson, Don Miller and Rachelle Sherris-Watt. As part of
a multi-parish effort to address hunger in our community, we will be
focusing on 3-4 projects for participation this year. More information
will be forthcoming, along with information about how and where we
can help.
“Mac & Cheese Ministry”
Our first project will benefit the Alameda County Community Food
Bank. During the month of October, we will collect boxes of macaroni
and cheese for the Food Bank. We specifically need the 6 ounce boxes.
On Sunday, October 28, we will have a special event at Coffee Hour: a
“domino roll” of all the boxes we have collected. We estimate that we
will need about 700 boxes of macaroni and cheese to circle Palache Hall,
so we hereby solicit your generous support.
MOVIE GROUP meets Sunday, October 14, at 6:00 PM at the Dobson
house. Call 510-339-1471 for directions. Join us for a casual potluck and
great discussions. The movies to be discussed are The Master and Frank
and Robot, both now playing—and, if you can find it, The Queen of
Versailles.
THANK YOU to the many volunteers who hosted the Sunday morning
coffee hours during 2012. You add so much to the life of the church.
Coffee hosts are now needed for the last few months of the year. Please
sign up on the sheet in Palache Hall or call Mandy Hammond at
527-1373.
the Conference Room at 11:43 AM on Sunday, October 7th. They are
making an exception, since the rector has invited himself. All TNTs are
welcome, especially newcomers. Contact Bruce if you have any
questions, or RSVP to bruce@stclementsberkeley.org.
APOLOGETICS CLUB: This week, in the Cornerstone Apologetics
Club, we will be discussing the ontological basis for objective morality,
the Euthyphro dilemma, and reactions to the televised debate. Come to
the meeting, after services in the Palache Hall conference room, to join in
or visit www.cornerstoneapologetics.com for apologetics updates and
more information."
