Hi everybody,<br />
As always, thank you for your<br />
patronage. Summer is almost here. We<br />
are having magnificent days. Beach<br />
season just started this past weekend -<br />
Memorial day, (which is where we<br />
were), so what better time to start<br />
working out to get beach-ready.<br />
Here at <strong>Wiggles</strong> & <strong>Giggles</strong>, we offer a<br />
few exceptional classes. I take Zumba<br />
and yoga, which are great classes for<br />
fitness and meditation, and I am very<br />
excited to mention the new pilates class<br />
instructed by Perry Longno. This class is<br />
called Fat Burning Pilates and it ‘s all<br />
about burning fat in the right places.<br />
Perry is also teaching Bounce Bebe,<br />
which was recently featured on Regis &<br />
Kelly Morning Show. Keep reading on to<br />
find out more regarding Bounce Bebe.<br />
It will be featured in some other news<br />
segments filmed in our very own<br />
<strong>Wiggles</strong> & <strong>Giggles</strong>.<br />

In our <strong>June</strong> issue we are focusing in all our<br />
fitness classes including those that your<br />
baby can participate such as Bounce Bebe<br />
and Baby and Mommy Yoga.<br />
We are always trying to cater to the needs<br />
of the community, so if you have any ideas<br />
or suggestions, please let us know and we<br />
will try to incorporate it into our<br />
schedule.<br />
In the meantime, come over and explore<br />
some of fitness classes to get you ready<br />
for the summer - you will not be<br />
disappointed.<br />

Zumba<br />
Zumba is a dance fitness program that will<br />
blow you away. You are not only exercising,<br />
but having fun at the same time. Different<br />
Latin rhythms such as salsa, merengue,<br />
cumbia, reggaeton, hip-hop and other<br />
international music styles are incorporated<br />
with the fast and slow rhythms and<br />
resistance training to tone and sculpt your<br />
body while burning fat. Beto Perez , native<br />
of Colombia created Zumba one day when<br />
he forgot his music for his aerobic class.<br />
Zumba classes are offered in more than<br />
50,000 fitness center locations in over 75<br />
countries.<br />
Fat Burning Pilates<br />
Take a traditional mat class and add some<br />
cardio, and you will find yourself in a<br />
sweat! This class is a standing Pilates<br />
workout providing plenty of movement<br />
and toning. Your muscles will be burning<br />
and you will feel and see the results.<br />

Hatha-vinyasa has a big focus on the breath<br />

unfolds. Our classes are open level with<br />
some beginner/gentle poses combined<br />
with some intermediate poses (with<br />
modifications when needed) depending on<br />
the level of the group.<br />

Bounce Bebe<br />
As featured on Regis & Kelly, Bounce Bebe<br />
is a great workout to see your baby giggle<br />
while you lose those jiggles. We use a<br />
fitness ball to target your core and your<br />
baby serves as your weight. Spend quality<br />
time with your baby and achieve incredible<br />
results. This class is for moms (or dads)<br />
with babies 2 months - crawling and for all<br />
levels, but be prepared to get your BURN<br />
on!<br />
Mommy & Baby Yoga<br />
This postnatal yoga class helps the<br />
mother’s body get back into shape in an<br />
easeful way. We focus on posture,<br />
abdominal muscle and pelvic floor work,<br />
breathing practices, and relaxation. It’s also<br />
a great way for parents to bond with their<br />
child while realizing that they don’t have to<br />
compromise their yoga practice because<br />
they have a new baby. We learn special<br />
poses and exercises that integrate the baby<br />
right into the mother’s practice. This<br />
joyous and fun class will give the new<br />
mother tools that will help her to be<br />
strong and vital in her new role. (Pre<br />

Children’s Yoga<br />
Come have fun with story telling, songs,<br />
animal poses and breathing exercises<br />
which will engage your children’s<br />
imagination, expand their love for<br />

Bounce Bebe and NBC News at <strong>Wiggles</strong> &<br />
<strong>Giggles</strong> <strong>Playhouse</strong><br />
Tuesday afternoon on <strong>June</strong> 1st, we<br />
had NBC News in the house. Ida<br />
Siegel a reporter at NBC News 11PM<br />
and a neighborhood mom in<br />
Washington Heights got a hold of us<br />
to see if they could film Perry<br />
Longno’s class, Bounce Bebe, here at<br />
<strong>Wiggles</strong> & <strong>Giggles</strong>. She had seen the<br />
postings of Perry’s segment at the<br />
Regis & Kelly Live show, and the rest<br />
was history.<br />
The filming was quite an event. Calvin<br />
Tyler was the cameraman and filmed<br />
every angle possible. The NBC crew<br />
spent more than an hour with us<br />
filming the class and<br />
interviewing Perry<br />
along with some of the<br />
moms and babies.<br />
The segment will<br />
feature Bounce Bebe<br />
and getting back into<br />
shape after having a<br />
baby.<br />
Ida Siegel mentioned that it will<br />
probably broadcast in two weeks, but<br />
we will keep you posted so you can<br />
all watch our own celebrities and<br />
their children working out!<br />

As the warm weather approaches us, we at<br />
<strong>Wiggles</strong> & <strong>Giggles</strong> are trying to find new<br />
ways to meet the needs and desires of the<br />
community. We will be changing our<br />
schedule a bit to reduce drop in play (since<br />
the park is the hot spot right now) and<br />
increase our classes. Be looking for our new<br />
summer schedule on our website in the next<br />
couple of weeks. We plan on having some<br />
more “gig events/happy hours” to cater to<br />
those that would like sip sangria while their<br />
kids are being entertained.<br />
Good Morning America contacted us to<br />
come shoot Bounce Bebe, which we are<br />
excited about! The exposure will be great for<br />
our neighborhood.<br />
Our New Mom’s Group was interested in<br />
doing a CPR training here at <strong>Wiggles</strong> &<br />
<strong>Giggles</strong>, so we are putting together a training<br />
for all who are interested. Please contact us<br />
to sign up. The cost is $80 per person.<br />
Alicia Suarez will be heading off a yoga<br />
workshop that use yoga to help relieve neck<br />
and back pain while gaining an understanding<br />
of personal alignment issues to prevent<br />
further pain. In this workshop we will discuss<br />
basic anatomy of the neck and back followed<br />
by a gentle yoga class focused on postural<br />
awareness and healthy spine movement. $60<br />
for early bird registration. Contact us for<br />

Wonderful support groups for new<br />
moms as well as for not so new<br />

Washington Heights has a lot to offer<br />
and now especially for new moms there<br />
is a group that meets at <strong>Wiggles</strong> &<br />
<strong>Giggles</strong> <strong>Playhouse</strong> which helps them<br />
with many issues these women struggle<br />
with. It is great to be surrounded by<br />
your peers and to share the joys and<br />
challenges of motherhood. Jessica<br />
Shapley, LMSW works with moms and<br />
babies 0-6 months old. Her group<br />
currently meets on Thursdays at 11:45<br />
am.<br />
Sara Kotzin, LCSW will be starting a<br />
“not so new” mom’s group here at<br />
<strong>Wiggles</strong> & <strong>Giggles</strong> for those moms who<br />
would like to continue to meet after<br />
their baby’s 6 month milestone. This<br />
group will meet Wednesdays @ 11:45<br />
am. Some of the topics covered are:<br />
Separation/Attachment; “Good Enough”<br />
mothering; nursing, weaning and<br />
introducing solids; and time budgeting<br />
between self, relationships, identity, as<br />
