p is used for networked automation
functions. SafetyNET p is an
Ethernet-based multi-master bus system
suitable for industrial use.
The SafetyNET p protocol contains a
safe data channel for safety-related
data. This channel is certified for data
transfer in accordance with SIL 3 of
IEC 61508. On SafetyNET p, safety
and non-safety-related data is transferred
via different data channels, but
using the same connection cable.
In terms of the topology, SafetyNET p
supports the familiar Ethernet architectures,
so modular system architectures
and individual subnetworks can
be implemented. If necessary, this
method can be used to divide automation
functions into decentralised and
largely independent function units.
The main benefits of this type of architecture
lie in the reusability, modification
and availability of function units.
