a box from Tiffany’s. The game went on until
close to midnight when the stakes were
raised to a $2,000 chip buy-in. Don’t worry—it
was all funny-money! Scott went allin
but came up short. Instead of the Tiffany
When Andrew lost all his poker chips, he
made a beeline to the ball, where he wasted
no time in joining one of the lines. He made
me promise
to send him
which I did.
He emailed
to ask his wife, “Do you know who I
am?” Those of us who had the opportunity
to meet and hear him speak won’t soon
Notes from Andrew Davies’ Talk
By Liz Cooper
For starters, after years of getting it
wrong, we learned his last name is pronounced
Davis. His very humorous talk was
one of the highlights of the conference. During
it, I wrote furiously so I could provide
you with this report.
First, we were treated to a fun film introduction
made by Cheryl Kinney. Clips from
Austen films Davies has worked on were
interspersed between Connie Francis singing,
“Sixteen Reasons Why I Love You.”
This brought the house down before Davies
even opened his mouth. He started by stat-
