A MUSICAL WEEK AT BROOMWOOD

UPPER SCHOOL · WEEK 5 · FRIDAY 1 FEBRUARY 2013 A MUSICAL WEEK AT BROOMWOOD HALL Choral Evensong: On Monday our Chamber Choir joined Northcote Lodge Chapel Choir to sing canticles by Dyson and Rutter’s ‘Gaelic Blessing’. The children sang beautifully and I was very proud of them all. Cross-Site String Masterclass: Musicians from Garrad’s Road and the Lower School joined us for an afternoon of ensemble playing. It was lovely to see so many enthusiastic young string players. Music Assembly: We were treated to some fabulous solos, duets and ensemble pieces at our music assembly last Friday. I particularly enjoyed a lively duet from Zoe and Ella Cohen; well done girls! Inter-House Music Competition Final: Parents are welcome to join us in the Hall at 2pm on Monday 4 February for an exciting afternoon of music. Ms Andrea Watson – Director of Music PA PARTY We hope you received your invitation to the ‘Glimpse of Glamour’ party being held at The Worx on Friday 15 March. It will be a fantastic night and we expect tickets to sell quickly, so don’t delay in booking. The ticket price is £60 per person. This includes drinks all night (reception cocktails, wine and beer), delicious food including canapés and substantial bowl food and dancing all night. We will be raising money on the night for ‘Broomwood in Ethiopia’; more details will be made available when you receive your tickets. And, of course, we have a few fun little surprises up our sleeves! Please return your application from the bottom of the invitation with your cheque/cash directly to the secretary at your site. If you have any questions, please contact Debs Hargreaves on d.hargreaves@northwoodschools.com. The Glimpse of Glamour Committee HEADMISTRESS AWARD This week I am delighted to announce that my Headmistress Awards go to Gina M for being very helpful at the Swim Gala and to Izzy R for some superb creative writing. NOTES FROM THE HEAD May I remind everyone again that there is a strict ‘No Right Turn’ policy in or out of the school for drop off in the morning. There have been several complaints that cars turning right have been causing traffic to back up Nightingale Lane. If this situation doesn’t improve I will reluctantly have to suspend the car drop-off. CHURCH CORNER Thursday 7 March: Class Prep E. Do please join us at St Luke’s for coffee from 8.30 followed by our service at 8.45. PLEASE NOTE: FULL DETAILS OF ANY ITEM IN RED CAN BE SEEN ON OUR WEBSITE www.broomwood.co.uk and PARENTS DO FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK and TWITTER @BroomwoodHall
