10 reasons why the BRC is a
must join for every retailer
“It is important that retailers unite behind the BRC so that we
have one voice speaking for the industry.”
Charlie Mayfield, Chairman, John Lewis Partnership
There are many benefits to your organisation
of being a member of the most influential retail
trade association in the UK, including:
1 Influence
BRC members are part of a powerful, unified
retail voice. They drive and shape the retail
agenda whilst making sure their own business
priorities are represented. All retail members
are invited to input into the BRC’s influential
Policy Action Groups.
2Lobbying and
Representation
The BRC acts as our members’ public affairs
teams at Westminster, Edinburgh, Cardiff,
Belfast and Brussels. Our dedicated policy
teams tirelessly campaign and lobby for the
retail sector ensuring that the industry’s voice
is heard at the highest level.
Political Intelligence
3
Through the BRC, our retail members obtain
direct access to the key political decision
makers. The viewpoint of our members,
as well as that of the whole sector, can be
brought to the attention of MPs, MSPs, MEPs
and senior civil servants.
4Advice and Guidance
Our members often use the BRC for
information on complex legislative issues and
implications for their businesses, saving them
the need to employ expensive consultants.
5Emergency Incidents
The BRC is the official Government contact
on behalf of the retail sector for incidents
- everything from weather disruption to
food contamination. We can give you timely,
accurate information, lobby for the relaxation
of legislation and provide a confidential forum
where you can share your experiences and
problems with other retailers.
