TRIGGER CURE ® 9-20675 A/B
UV, 2-PART POTTING COMPOUND FOR RADIOFREQUENCY CIRCUITS
• UV CURE AND 2-PART (A+B MIX) FOR SHADOW CURE
• LOW STRESS, LOW SHRINK
• NO EXOTHERM
• CAPABLE OF POTTING LARGE CAVITIES (1/2 LITER+)
• MINIMAL INTERFERENCE WITH RADIOFREQUENCY ANTENAS
DESCRIPTION
Trigger Cure 9-20675 A/B is a two-part, dual cure, dual hardness potting compound. Trigger Cure 9-20675 A/B cures using Dymax’s patented
2-part mix + UV/Visible cure technology. Material cures in seconds upon exposure to UV or Visible curing lamps forming a rigid, protective
outer layer. Those areas not exposed to UV light (“shadowed areas”) polymerize like a traditional 2-part potting compound. The chemical cure
results in a softer, lower stress, inner layer. 9-20675 bonds PVC, polycarbonate, urethane, PET, PBT, and PETG as well as many other
materials. Trigger Cure 9-20675 was designed to provide minimal interference with radio frequency circuits both before and after
polymerization over that of standard urethane and epoxy UV technologies.
Product Data Sheet
CURE DATA - Using 365 nm wavelength UV light [1] :
(seconds) mW/cm 2 Lamps
UV Cure (0.25 inch deep) 15 100 5000-EC
Room Temperature Shadow Cure (After UV Cure)
9-20675 A/B gels in shadowed areas at room temperature within 3 hours following UV cure. Actual pot-life and gel-time can vary depending
on temperature and mass of material. Optimum properties are obtained within 72 hours. Because oxygen inhibits the 2-part chemical Trigger
Cure mechanism, it is important to UV cure all air exposed surface areas. Heating is not recommended to accelerate the 2-part chemical
cure.
DISPENSING AND HANDLING ADHESIVE
Parts A and B should be mixed without air entrapment prior to use. Parts A and B should be dispensed in a ratio of 1:1 and thoroughly mixed
prior to application. 9-20675 should be applied and UV cured within 10 minutes after mixing. Trigger Cure systems can be dispensed by PVA
equipment or equivalent. If machine remains idle for longer than the pot-life, mixing tip should be changed. If machine remains idle for longer
than 12 hours, parts A and B should be disconnected from dispensing machine and purged from lines to prevent premature gelation or
contamination.
Repeated or continuous skin contact may cause sensitization and should be avoided. Do not wear jewelry. The use of barrier hand cream is
recommended. Do not wear absorbent gloves. Adhesive may be removed with hand soap and water. Avoid eye contact. See CAUTION
below. Wipe excess adhesive with paper towels; remove residue with chlorinated solvents, methanol, ethanol, or isopropanol. Direct
questions relating to dispensing and curing systems for specific applications to Dymax Technical Representatives at (860) 482-1010.
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Store material in cool, dark place when not in use. Do not expose to UV light source or sunlight. Material may polymerize upon prolonged
exposure to ambient light. Replace lids immediately after use. Shelf-life is six-months when stored below 90ºF in the original, unopened
container.
CAUTION
For industrial use only. Avoid breathing vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and clothing. In case of contact, immediately flush with water for at
least 15 minutes; for eyes, get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse. Keep out of reach of children. Do not take internally. If
swallowed, vomiting should be induced at once and a physician called. For specific information, refer to the product Material Safety Data
Sheet before use.
NOTES
[1] Use of lamps that emit high levels of shortwave light (for example, more than 15% 200-300 nanometer UV light) are not recommended.
[2] Nominal intensity taken at a pre-determined distance. This reading does not reflect the maximum intensity capabilities emitted from each unit.
