In particular, the of the project, made up by: UNISS (Italy), BGRF (Bulgaria),
KCZIA (Poland) is well consolidated and each member has the necessary expertise in the
issues related to the project in order to manage the activities they are meant to coordinate.
In particular, each partner will be responsible for the implementation of a Work Package,
even though they will participate actively in all the activities of the project. Besides, the
organisation of the activities will entail the involvement of target groups, as local and
national actors, Penitentiary Institutes not directly involved in the project and NGOs
working in and out of prisons and with sex offenders, that will have to deal with the
beneficiaries of the project, as operators working with sex offenders, PAs and NGOs
working in this field.
The University of
Sassari was founded by Alessio Fontana in 1558. The official opening dates back to the
month of May 1562. It was firstly run by the Jesuits. It was the first University in Sardinia.
The Rector of the University is Prof. Attilio Mastino, an expert in Roman History. Today the
University, which is of medium size, with over 19.000 students and about 760 teachers,
consists of 11 Faculties. The University of Sassari has its main buildings in the city of
Sassari. Additional sites are in the towns of Alghero, Olbia, Nuoro, Oristano. The University
has got 23 departments, 24 libraries, and more than 40 divisions and centres for students
of the medical professions. There are Specialist Schools, Research Institutions,
Postgraduate Schools and 11 Doctoral schools. The University of Sassari has always aimed
at developing policies of international cooperation. To this end, the University has been
involved in various projects, among which of particular relevance is the participation in the
programmes of the European Community such as Erasmus-Ects, Lingua, Comett, Tempus
and others; as a result, a large number of researchers and students both from within and
outside the Community have had, have now, and will have the opportunity of doing part of
their studies in foreign Universities with full and complete recognition of their value on the
part of the home institution. An evergrowing number of our students have been accepted
by European Universities and in return we have welcomed foreign students here. Our
participation in the Comett Mediterranean project gives and will in the future give to our
graduates and those graduating the chance to spend some time working in foreign
businesses in various sectors and - most importantly - in those concerned with the latest
technology. The University works with various international organizations such as the
University of the United Nations, the Community of the University of the Mediterranean
and with numerous inter-university consortia.
Since 2004, the University supports projects and interventions aimed at social
rehabilitation of prisoners and former prisoners in: 1) a

Sassari "San Sebastiano” and of Alghero, whose aims are to promote cultural development
and post graduation education of prisoners and to promote scientific research to improve
the living conditions inside the prisons; 2) an for
projects in the field of prevention of recidive criminal activity and to support job
placements of former inmates. Furthermore, a

centrality of the execution phase where the social recovery of the condemned is fully in line
with constitutional principles ruling the penalty. Specific attention of the Agreement is

damage, understanding the pain caused to the victim, suggesting different paths to
