A voice that desserves to be heard...
In 1931, visiting friends,Léon Werth meets Saint-Exupéry. The
two men, seemingly far apart, become the best of friends. In
1943 «Tonio» will dedicate Le Petit Prince to him.
The independent spirit runs through his works and still causes
intense controversy: a virulent antimilitarism in Clavel soldat
(1919), or a not so fashionable anticolonialism in Cochinchine
(1926).
This refusal of parties frightened publishers who fear that
“this fierce independent”: he very early denounces the Stalinist
imposture even though he was considered a man of the left.
Werth’s work has remained quite unknown, whether it be his
novels, narratives or writings on art.
