“Kozloduy NPP” PLC SUMMARY REPORT for Conduct of Kozloduy NPP Stress Tests 1.1.2.1.3 Units 5 and 6 Units 5 and 6 are equipped with VVER-1000 type reactors. Both units are in operation, unit 5 going through its 18 th fuel campaign and unit 6 – 17 th fuel campaign. Both units operate mainly in base mode of rated power operation according to the terms of the license for operation. 1.1.2.1.4 SFS Spent fuel storage facility is located in the southwest side Units 3 and 4 of Kozloduy NPP site. It contains a pool filled with water for placing containers with VVER-440 and VVER-1000 spent fuel assemblies in it. The water serves simultaneously as biologic shield and for spent fuel (SNF) cooling. 1.1.2.1.5 DSFS The DSFS site is located in the northwest of SFS building. The storage technology in Kozloduy NPP DSFS consists of storage containers with air-cooling principle of natural convection. Containers are CONSTOR 440/84 type with a capacity of 84 fuel assemblies from VVER-440. 1.1.2.2 General Plant Facilities and Structures 1.1.2.2.1 Outdoor switchyard Kozloduy NPP is connected to the electric energy system (EES) of Bulgaria via three own distribution systems (OSY) under voltage 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV. Between them connections are made through autotransformers. 400 kV system is designed by logic “double section bus system”, 220 kV system – “double bus system”, 110 kV system – “double bus with transfer busbar”. 1.1.2.2.2 Bank pump stations and the channels Bank pump stations (BPS) 1, 2 and 3 are made for supply of water for the needs of Kozloduy NPP. Through these water pumps (with total capacity of 180-200 m 3 /s) from Danube River, which through the channels with the overall length of 7.5 km is brought to the Kozloduy NPP site and then back into the river. Water pumped from the BPS is transferred through cold channel to the circulating pump stations (CPS) 1-4. CPS-1 supplies Units 1 and 2, CPS-2 supplies Units 3 and 4, respectively, CPS-3 – Unit 5 and CPS-4 – Unit 6 of Kozloduy NPP. In the respective CPS pumps (and their power supply and control) are located for supply of service and cooling water to the unit normal operation systems. The water used for heat removal returns to the so-called low pressure (underground) channels after which it goes back to Danube River [7],[8]. 1.1.2.2.3 Connections between Units 1 to 4 and 5 and 6 (steam, water, fire ring) 15/202
“Kozloduy NPP” PLC SUMMARY REPORT for Conduct of Kozloduy NPP Stress Tests Between the first 4 Units (1 to 4), on one hand, and Units 5 and 6, on the other hand, connections are provided between process systems ensuring supply of demineralised water, steam, water for fire fighting at technological demand: · Fire fighting systems of units 1 to 4 and of 5 and 6 are integrated in fire rings. Fire ring of units 1 to 4 is connected with fire ring of units 5 and 6 wich are interconnected and, if needed, provisions are in place for water to be supplied for fire fighting between them. · Auxiliary steam systems of units 5 and 6 are connected with those of units 1 to 4 in order to supply steam for process needs; · The demineralised water systems of units 5 and 6 are connected with those of units 1 to 4, providing possibility of exchange of demineralised water between the units. 1.1.3 Licensing Status The Licensees for nuclear facilities located in Kozloduy NPP site are as follows: · Unit 1 - licensee is the State Enterprise "Radioactive waste"; valid until 17. 10. 2015, the Scope – radioactive waste management facility to be decommissioned [9]. · Unit 2 - licensee is the State Enterprise "Radioactive waste"; valid until 17. 10. 2015, the Scope – radioactive waste management facility to be decommissioned [10]. · Unit 3 - licensee is "Kozloduy NPP PLC; valid until 20. 05. 2014 [11]. · Unit 4 - licensee is "Kozloduy NPP PLC; valid until 26. 02. 2013 [12]. · Unit 5 - licensee is "Kozloduy NPP PLC; valid until 05. 11. 2017 [13]. · Unit 6 - the licensee is "Kozloduy NPP PLC; valid until 02. 10. 2019 [14]. · Spent fuel storage facility - licensee is " Kozloduy NPP " PLC; valid until 24.06.2014 [15]. · Spent fuel dry storage facility – currently the dry storage for spent fuel is under Utilization Permit for construction phase I. 16/202
