Information displays

Information displays 

General description of LCD technology 

NIS displays are of high quality, reliable and thanks to top-quality materials applicable for almost all purposes. 

For professional application we use professional LCD technologies. 

COG technology (Chip-On-Glass): control chip and interconnection track are 

integrated in the glass and therefore an identical coefficient of expansion at all 

temperatures is guaranteed. 

The approx. 0,.01 mm thick liquid crystal layer is hermetically sealed between 

two glasses . 

Transflective LCD technology: a semi-transparent reflector is installed behind the 

LCD glass and in front of the acrylic glass in a triple layered structure, which is 

illuminated by the sunlight from the back side and which reflects in sunlight. 

Transflective LCD technology doesn’t require external brightness control and 

renders possible a uniform colour fastness and brightness. The original bright 

ness of the LCD display can be restored by exchanging the background lighting 

(e.g. usual fluorescent tubes).

4.1 HGV call displays 

Time is money, "just in time" is the key to success and logistics and material management are focal points of business 

activities. Under these perspectives the control of supplier traffic flows for loading or unloading is gaining more and 

more importance. For this purpose we offer the NIS-time truck call-up systems. 

Whether you need simply to display free access routes to the factory, allocate gate accesses, lanes or loading ramps – 

or to display all this information– we can offer you display systems. We provide you the traffic control system that 

meets your specifications. Thanks to a wide range of standard software, a choice of data communication technologies 

and Windows-based operating software we ensure problem-free operation.

4.2 Car park displays 

The NIS car park displays are not only suitable to display occupied/vacant parking spaces , but also offer, according 

to the specific type, an elegant solution to directly guide e.g. your visitor groups to the parking area reserved for them. 

4.3 Safety displays and “accident-free day” displays 

Accidents are expensive and safety in business is important. It becomes more and more important to present the 

businesses’ efforts in this respect. It helps not only in motivating one’s own staff members but is also as part of 

the business’s public image. The display systems for “accident-free days“ and the safety systems serve to represent 

the business. These displays and control systems are individually tailor-made to customers’ needs. 

4.4 Performance and weather data displays 


Displays of energy production of solar generators and wind power stations or of the measurement data of a weather 

station enable an ecologically sensitive public to be informed. The displays and data adaptations are individually 

tailor-made to customer specifications.

4.5 Countdown displays as an event clock 

For sales campaigns or sporting events, over and over again an eye-catcher: the precise count down clock as an additional 

attraction of outdoor and indoor advertising boards. Easy target time entry with operator device or per PC. 

The time information as well as the summer/winter time changeover is carried out fully automatically via DCF77 time 

signal transmitter or GPS satellite time signal. Displays are available according to customer’s specifications in all glass 

sizes from our product range supplied complete with housing or without housing as installation kit. 

4.6 Stage text displays – subtitle display boards for theatres 

True white characters with high resolution (88-segments) on blue-black background ensure optimal readability. The 

background lighting is controlled by the stage lighting (e.g. DMX system). The special BTS operating software allows 

various creative forms of display. The information speed can be finely adjusted if the sequence of events on stage 

doesn’t coincide with the planning.

Radio-controlled clock

Please note! The radio reception in buildings can be restricted due to construction conditions and should be checked

Pulse slave clock: 

A system clock that is driven via a master clock with 12/24 V polarity-alternating minute pulse. On installation/ 

commissioning attention should be paid to connecting all slave clocks to the correct pole. For clocks with date 

display on commissioning or after trouble shooting the current date has to be adjusted manually. For analogue 

clocks with second hand normally an additional 2 wire line for the second pulse from the master clock or integrated 

synchronous second movement is necessary. 

NIS TELNU clock: 

Intelligent slave clocks that are driven via a TELNU master clock with serial time frame (seconds, minutes, hours, 

day, month, weekday and year ) without additional line (operating voltage and data transmission via a 2 wire line). 

All analogue clocks (also with display for date and/or second hand display) and digital clocks can be driven by this 

system. Fully automatic hand adjustment through electronic clock hand identification with summer/winter time changeover. 

On commissioning and also after trouble shooting such as for example cable break or short circuit an automatic adjustment 

of the clock system is carried out. Same purchase costs as for classic pulse-driven analogue indoor slave clocks up to dial 

diameter 40 cm. not only “counts” an important one-time cost saving on commissioning but also the reliable technology that 

provides security and saves operational costs. 

NIS-netTime clocks: 

Intelligent, self-monitoring (S)NTP network clocks that are synchronized per ToE (Time over Ethernet). The clocks 

are integrated with a network cable into the existing LAN and can be driven directly without additional power current 

supply (PoE – Power over Ethernet). The time information is provided either by the existing NTP server or via 

internet by a NTP pool. All analogue and digital clocks can be driven by this system. With your internet browser (e.g. Internet 

Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) you can set comfortably and practically all configurations as e.g. the IP-address (automatically 

via DHCP or manually), time zones, e-mail failure notifications and many more adjustments. With the optional NIS-time 

ClockExplorer you have a survey of your complete clock system. This administrator tool allows a fast configuration and monitoring 

of all clocks in your LAN.

NIS-netTime, the self-monitoring network clock system 

General description of the system 

Intelligent, self-monitoring (S)NTP network clocks, that are synchronized per ToE (Time over Ethernet). The clocks 

are integrated with a network cable in the existing LAN and can be driven directly without an additional current 

supply (PoE – Power over Ethernet). The time information is provided either by the existing NTP server or via internet 

by a NTP pool. 

All analogue and digital clocks can be driven by this system. With your internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or 

Mozilla Firefox) you can set comfortably and practically all configurations as e.g. the IP - address (automatically 

via DHCP or manually), time zones, e-mail failure notifications and many more adjustments. With the optional NIStime 

ClockExplorer you have a survey of your complete clock system. This administrator tool allows fast configuration

Mode of operation for the DCF77 Receiver 

DCF77 stands for: D = Deutscher (German); 

C = Langwellensender (Long-wave transmitter); 

F = Frankfurt; 77 = Frequency 

The DCF77 radio clocks receive the official time of 

the Federal Republic of Germany from the National 

Metrology Institute (PTB) in Braunschweig, and pass 

these on through interfaces to computers and 

systems. Through frequency synchronisation of the 

DCF77 transmitter in Mainflingen near Frankfurt am 

Main, the long-term accuracy of the PTB measurement 

standard 1 x 10 E-13 can be attained weekly. 

Because of the great degree of accuracy, only this 

time is recognised as the legal and official time in 

the Federal Republic (see Federal Law Gazette 

42/1978, page 1110). The DCF77 signal is transmitted 

constantly, with exceptions only of short interruptions 

due to delays or technical failures. 

During thunder storms at the place of transmission, 

the DCF77 transmitter will remain switched off for 

the duration of this period. 

Time signal 

In every second of a minute, with the exception of the 59th, a specific piece of time information is carried. The missing 

signal during this one second, indicates an impending minute-change for the next second stroke. At the beginning of every 

second, a signal amplitude with a duration of 100 or 200 ms will decrease to 25% of its value. The beginning of the fall in 

amplitude signifies the exact beginning of the second. These second marks are synchronised with the DCF77 signal. 

Basically, it can be said that the inaccuracy of the time signal received from the DCF77 is matched and compared with the 

large time signal sent. The reception is strongly dependent on the restricted bandwidth of the time signal transmitter and 

on various other environmental influences. Within a distance of a few hundred kilometres, the DCF77 signal can be received 

with a difference of below 0.1ms.

Having problems changing to summer time clock? 

Since the end of 2006, the DCF77 time signal transmitter has been 

carrying weather information between the first and fifteenth seconds. 

Older controller/processor cannot select this information, with the result 

that no information can be interpreted.

GPS Satellite Time Receiver 

Das Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite system designed in the United States, based on the NAVSTAR satellites 

from the company Rockwell, which can be used at any time and at any point on the planet to receive an exact time. In 

order to achieve this, a total of 24 satellites are used, travelling in 6 nearly perfect circular paths, with a slope against the 

equator at 55°,a total circulation time of around 12 hours and an orbiting height from earth of 20,183 km. Once the position 

has been determined, the time period of the data can be transmitted from the individual satellites. Using this data, the 

system generates GPS world time, and this is passed to a controllable quartz with an accuracy of ±1 µ second. 

Each satellite weighs around 430kg, and contains a transmitter, a receiver, an antenna, an atomic clock for the highest possible 

accuracy as well as controls for the satellite’s functions. The main employment of GPS systems is for positioning information 

and navigation.

General Terms and Conditions 

1. General Terms 

The conditions referred to in this general list of terms apply to both the manufacturer 

or supplier, henceforth referred to as the contractor (C), and the receiver 

or orderer, henceforth referred to as the contracting body (CB). The CB confirms 

that he / she has been made fully aware of all the general terms and conditions 

contained within the offer, or the written contract, made by the C; the general 

terms and conditions (GTC) are a key component of the agreement between the 

orderer and the supplier. 

Within the GTC, consumers, are intended to signify normal persons, who come to 

engage in a business relationship, without these having to be assigned any kind 

of commercial or independent occupational role. Within the terms of the GTC, traders 

are defined as normal or legal persons under public or company law or partnerships 

with legal capacity, with which a commercial relationship is entered 

into, from which they conduct a commercial or an independent occupational role 

or activity. Within the GTC, customers are both consumers and traders. Any variational, 

conflicting or additional general terms and conditions of business will 

not apply to this contract; for such conditions to apply, express written confirmation 

of agreement will be required. 

2. Contract Completion and Conditions of Payment 

By placing an order for an model of goods, the CB makes a binding promise to 

wish to procure the ordered model. The C is then obligated to take up the contractual 

offer contained within the order. The C will then promptly confirm receipt 

of the order either using the email address provided, or by fax. The confirmation 

of receipt does not, however, represent a binding acceptance of the offer, although 

the declaration of acceptance can be combined with the confirmation of 

receipt. The offers of C remain subject to change: The rights to technical changes, 

fittings, deliveries, and also changes to form, colour and/or weight are reserved. 

The only binding details are those contained within the declaration of acceptance. 

The C is obligated to promptly inform the CB of any eventual deviations or 

changes between the time of the order and the confirmation of receipt and/or the 

declaration of acceptance. The conclusion of the contract shall be subject to the 

correct and punctual delivery of the goods through the C’s suppliers. This applies 

only in the instance that non-delivery isn’t caused by the C, in particular when 

the task is conducted by a contractor commissioned by C’s supplier. In such an 

instance, the CB will be informed of the non-delivery immediately, and a prearranged 

alternative service will be introduced without delay. For further terms 

see section 4. Payments will be made without charges incurred by the C, either 

through his / her given account, or by cheque. 

3. Reservation of Title 

An extended reservation of title is agreed upon between the contractual parties 

for the delivered goods. Thereafter, the goods remain the property of the C until 

the final payment. The CB is entitled to sell the goods on to third parties as a normal 

business transaction. When selling the goods onto third parties, the CB thus 

cedes his/her rights in advance upon payment of the amount as yet not rendered 

to the C. The CB is not allowed to forfeit or transfer the title prior to full payment 

of the goods to the C, if this leads to the property of the C becoming negatively 

affected. The CB is obliged to promptly notify the C of any seizures, confiscations, 

storages etc. without unnecessary hesitation. 

4. Delivery, Costs of Delivery, Split-Delivery 

The terms of delivery may only be deemed binding once they have been received 

in writing; verbal statements are non-binding. If a delivery time is promised, the 

C cannot be held responsible for delays that were the fault of the delivery service. 

Also, should non-delivery and/or delay occur as a result of overbearing forces, 

industrial action, fire, unforeseeable obstructions, or other circumstances 

that cannot be considered the responsibility of the C, the delivery time will be 

delayed for the duration of said events. The C is entitled to partially deliver the 

goods if a part of the shipment is temporarily unable to be delivered. Additional 

delivery costs will not be billed to the CB. The delivery will be performed by courier 

to be nominated by the C. The delivery will only be made to the same delivery 

address and billing address, which the buyer provided. Should the C be found 

responsible for delay against his/her binding written promise, the CB’s claims for 

damages are limited to a maximum of 5% of the price of the goods of each delivery 

or partial delivery, which couldn’t be put to planned usage because of said 

delay. In all cases of late delivery, further claims for compensation from the CB 

are excluded, as long as no gross negligence or carelessness on the part of the 

C can be proven to have caused the delay. 

5. Passing of Risk 

The danger of accidental destruction and deterioration of the goods is passed 

from the C to the CB once these have been passed to the delivery company (both 

by post and train) in the usual way. If it is desired, the C can arrange for transportation 

insurance at the cost of the CB. 

6. Obligations to inspect and lodge Complaints 

If the CB is a trader, he/she is obligated to inspect the goods as soon as possible, 

and, in the event of deficiencies, must inform the C within 14 days of the delivery 

or construction. Should the CB fail to make this announcement, the goods 

will be deemed approved. If a deficiency is discovered later, a claim must be 

made immediately after the discovery has been made. 

7. Return of the Goods 

Should the C take the goods back – in the case of our standard products being 

in faultless condition and in CB’s undamaged packaging – these can only be 

compensated at 75% of the goods’ total value. Such compensation will not be 

paid out directly, but will be used to cover the costs of other deliveries. In all 

cases with specially-designed models, the return of goods is not permitted. 

8. Assembly and Mounting 

Where the subject matter of the contract is also the assembly and mounting of 

the delivered goods, this applies only to the actual assembly and mounting. It is 

incumbent upon the CB to make arrangements for the procurement of any approvals 

from local authorities and other bodies, at his/her own cost. Furthermore, 

the CB assumes personal responsibility for meeting all the necessary preconditions 

required for the work to be carried out by the C, and at his/her own cost. 

Any kind of extra work, such as the mounting of electricity cables and the appropriate 

holders for the supplier’s goods, is the duty of the CB and should be cleared 

with the C prior to the commencement of work. Should the work of C be delayed 

due to any circumstances, be they of the CB’s making or not, the CB will be 

responsible for compensating the C financially for any extra unnecessary costs 

incurred in work and time wasted. 

9. Guarantee 

In aberration of the legal guidelines, the parties fundamentally agree to a warranty 

period of twenty-four months from the date of the passing of risk; as long 

as this involves traders. In the event of any deficiency, the C will be obliged to rectify 

the matter. The C is entitled to rectify deficiencies or deliver parts free from 

defects, at is/her own determination, within one year of the initial delivery, in 

accordance with section 439 of the Civil Code. Rectification involves free of charge 

- but non-financially payable - provision of parts and/or assemblies for 

exchange at the place of delivery. After one year of the initial delivery date, the 

CB’s warranty rights will be limited to rectification or recompense at the current 

market value, to be decided by the C. An insignificant depreciation in the value 

or capability of the goods remains entirely out of consideration. The rights of the 

receiver regarding deterioration and modification of the sales agreement remain 

unaffected following failed or abortive rectification. The legal guidelines covering 

warranties between businesses, in particular section 377 of the Commercial 

Code, apply. Should the CB choose to demand reimbursement of expenses, as 

per sections 439 II and 478 II of the Civil Code, these will be limited to a maximum 

of 1% of the original value of the deficient goods. Claims for reimbursement 

of expenses made by the CB involving further delivery are excluded. Claims that 

are brought related to section 478 of the Civil Code are to be covered by the 24month 

warranty and the rebate offered by C; this loss offset corresponds to section 

478 IV P.1 of the Civil Code. 

10. Liability 

The C is liable to the CB only in instances of wilful and significant negligence. 

Liability for a small degree of negligence on the part of the C, is ruled out between 

the two parties. Any potential kind of compensation for damages is limited 

to any foreseeable damages that are typical of this type of contract. 

11. Disposal 

If the CB is a trader and/or a commercial user of our products, he/she obligates 

him/herself to dispose of the products bought from the C at his/her own cost, 

thus removing the C from any claims that could be made by third parties in relation 

to this action, as per the directives detailed under section 10 para. 2 of the 

Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. 

12. Export 

In the event of our products being exported outside of the Federal Republic of 

Germany by the CB, the C will not be liable for any damage caused by the delivered 

products to the proprietary rights of any third parties. The CB will be responsible 

for covering all damages that may be caused by the export of goods that 

were not specifically delivered for export by the C. 

13. Liability for Links 

With the judgement of the 12th September 1999 (312 O 85/99 “Haftung für 

Links”), the Hamburg regional court decided that by publishing links to other 

web pages, a website was therefore responsible for the content contained within 

those linked pages. Responsibility for this, the regional court ruled, could only be 

relinquished by expressly distancing oneself from these links. We hereby 

expressly distance ourselves from all the contents of linked sites or graphics, and 

in no way make these our own. All violations of or infringements against applicable 

law, customs or morals, which we are made aware of, will be deleted forthwith 

– i.e. any links, text entries, graphics or similar material - as a consequence. 

14. Final Clause 

The place of fulfilment and seat of court is 65817 Eppstein. The law of the Federal 

Republic of Germany applies. The terms of the Uniform Law on the International 

Sale of Goods do not apply. Whether the CB is a businessman/businesswoman, 

a legal person under civil law or a private entity under commercial law, the court 

of jurisdiction for any disputes arising from this contract is exclusively in the C’s 

place of business (i.e. the place of fulfilment). The same rule applies if the CB 

possesses no general court of jurisdiction in the Federal Republic of Germany, or 

if his/her fixed abode or usual place of residence during the course of the court 

proceedings is not known. If individual elements of the contract, including the 

general terms and conditions, are deemed to be, or to become, completely or 

partially ineffective for the CB, the effectiveness of the remaining elements shall 

remain untouched. The totally or partially ineffective term will be replaced by 

another, which will be intended to have a more successful commercial impact. In 

the event of there being a loophole, the parties shall endeavour to find a term 

that will attempt to bring about the objectives of both parties contained within 

this agreement.
