In Bart´s first year with Powerslide and Matter he celebrated his best ever year at a World Championships with three gold
medals. He has won the road 20.000 m elimination before, but this time he added the road relay and the marathon to his
collection. However many people at hte championships commented that his 3rd place in the track 15.000 m elimination was
equally as impressive because of the fact that he was involved in a crash early in the race and had to chase to get back on.
After a small break, Bart will hit the ice as he continues his quest for the 2014 Olympic Games.

15.879 seconds. Thats all it took for Joseba to make history in San Benedetto. The man from Spain blasted out of the blocks,
and 15.879 seconds later he won gold and was the first man in history to go below the 16 second mark in 200 m TT. A silver
medal in the 300 m TT on track was a nice warm up to his success on road.

Ewen by his own admission didn´t have a lot of fun on the track at the
World Championships. A little bit of bad luck and a near miss cost him
dearly, but he more than made up for it on the road. A super strong
display early on in the 10.000 m points race saw him build a lead
that nobody else could match. A nice bronze medal in the marathon
finished off a great Championships for Ewen.

“Kathi” had some pressure on her shoulders heading into these championships because it was her last year in the junior category.
She played it very smart this year and only targeted events where she knew she had a good chance of medals or even
winning. The 1.000 m on track was a nice start with a silver medal, but coming in the final days of racing she only got better.
A Stunning performance in the relay saw he move from 4th to 1st in the last lap and collected gold for the German relay team.
Add to that her Gold Medal in the marathon it was an impressive end to her junior career.

KOREAN NATIONAL TEAM
Korea is always one of the strongest countries
in inline speed skating and 2012 was no
different. Standout performances were from.
So Yeong Shin who won the senior ladies
300 m TT, and from Hong Rae Jung who won
the junior mens points race. Yi Seul An was
another gold medalist with gold in the senior
ladies 500 m Track.

Two members of the PS junior team and
two hard working kids who left their mark
on the 2012 World Championships in the
Junior Men late gory. Livio won two silver
medals in the 1.000 m and 10.000 m
points elmination. But Boom Boom Boris
Peña was one of the junior category with
three gold medals. The highlight is definitely
the 15.000 m elimination on track,
but he was almost part of the Colombian
team that won both relay events.

Two girls from our PS/MAtter World
team, both palyed important parts for
their nationa relay teams. Relays are
always very crazy rules. Six teams that
always seem to want the same place on
the track. Luisa was part of the Colombian
team that won the track relay, and
Sabine was part of the German team
that was second.

We all know Bart Swings has class. Bucket
loads of it, but in a relay event even
superman can´t win alone, enter Ferre
Spruyt and Jore van den Berghe. Both
skaters race for PS on our Vi-G13 team,
and both skaters provided Bart with the
support he need to bring home relay gold.
The road relay is all about positioning,
makeing sure your last skater is in the
correct position heading in the last lap. As
soon as Bart started the last lap with the
sniff of victory it was always going to be
difficult for the rest of the field.
