Elect<br />
first African-American woman slated<br />
to lead the nation’s largest advocacy<br />
and accreditation organization for the<br />
legal profession. Brown, who earned<br />
a bachelor’s degree from Howard, is a<br />
nationally awarded litigator and champion<br />
for diversity in the legal profession.<br />
Diversity and inclusion are among her<br />
top goals for the organization, and<br />
its efforts in enhancing opportunities<br />
for attorneys and legal organizations.<br />

Brown was nominated as the<br />
president-elect of the American Bar<br />
Association in February, becoming the<br />
“Just as the U.S. Constitution has been<br />
amended to safeguard our liberties,<br />
the ABA must continue to respect and<br />
include lawyers in all practice areas<br />
and types, from solo practitioners to<br />
members of our largest international<br />
law firms, as well as public servants<br />
and in-house counsel,” she said.<br />
Brown will serve as president-elect for<br />
one year, pending approval from the ABA<br />
House of Delegates. She will officially<br />
be named president in August 2015.
