Express Registration for City Residents Only

You will not be required to stand in line in order to register

for a parks and recreation program. If you don’t have the

time to wait, need a receipt or have questions about the

program, feel free to drop off your completed registration

form and class fees. Registrations will be processed

in the order they are received. Please be aware that

enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, and receipt

of the enrollment form and payment does not guarantee

enrollment in a program. If you don’t hear from parks and

recreation staff, your registration has been processed and

you should show up for the first day of class. That is, we will

not call you to confirm your registration and will contact

you only if the class is full or canceled.

Registration Continues for Residents Only

Registration continues for persons living or working within

the City of Powell municipal boundary. Resident mailin

registrations are processed after resident in-person

registrations.

Open Registration

Registration starts for non-residents and continues until

classes are filled. Non-resident mail-in registrations are

processed after non-resident in-person registrations.

Residency Information

Are you sure you’re a resident? Not all addresses within the Powell 43065 zip

code are within the municipal boundary. A resident of the City of Powell is

anyone who lives or works within the municipal boundary. A non-resident is

anyone living and working outside the municipal boundary.

The City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department is largely financed through

City income tax dollars. Please know that even though you may have a Powell

mailing address or live within the Olentangy Local School District, you may not

live within the City limits, and therefore not contribute financially through taxes

to the City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department. If you are unsure of your

residency status, contact City offices at 614.885.5380, ext. 0.

Non-resident fees are calculated as follows:

$9.00 addition on any program of $10.00 or more

Photo Release

By registering for or attending any City of Powell Parks and Recreation

Department program, class or event, you are agreeing to allow the publication

of any photos taken of you and/or your child at any program, class, event or

facility of the City of Powell Parks and Recreation Department.

Class Cancellation

The City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel

classes due to low enrollment and/or other unforeseen circumstances. In the

case of program/class cancellation, you will be notified and issued a full refund

in the form of a check. There are no cash refunds. Refunds take approximately

four weeks to process. When a program or class is canceled due to low

enrollment, every effort will be made to notify you 48 hours in advance of the

first class. Please prepare to attend each class unless you are notified by a City

of Powell employee or the instructor of your class.

Refunds

Participant-requested refunds are subject to a $5 processing fee. Refunds will

be granted only when requested no later than 24 hours prior to the first class

meeting. Since decisions to maintain classes are based on the enrollment at the

first session, no refunds are granted after the first session. In the case of maximum

class enrollment or class cancellation, you will be granted a full check refund.

Please allow four weeks for processing all refunds.

Anticipate to participate. Register early.

Waiting until the last minute could mean the program you are interested in will

be canceled. In order for a class to survive, we must have at least the minimum

number of registrants 48 hours prior to the start of the first class. Attempting to

enroll on the day classes are set to begin will not save the class. REGISTER EARLY.

You can share your talents

The City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department is continually seeking

potential instructors with the desire and ability to teach. If you have a special

skill, practical knowledge or experience in an area, talent, craft, hobby or

activity that you would like to share, we would like to work with you to set up a

program. Contact Silas Bowers at 614.885.9820, ext. 2 to take advantage of this

great experience and opportunity.

Future Brochure Mailings

This Parks & Recreation Program Guide is delivered at no charge to all residents

within the City of Powell municipal boundary. Recreation Program Guides

are also available at the Village Green Municipal Building and the Delaware

County Library - Powell Branch. Anyone who wishes to receive the Program

Guide who currently does not may subscribe at a cost of $5 for the entire year.

Over the past eight years, instructor Brian Stewart has

helped hundreds of students in the central Ohio area

their scores by as many as 10 points in the ACT composite

and 330 points on the SAT composite. Brian was

nationally recognized for his test preparation expertise by

being named the sole author for Barron’s ACT Prep Guide

coming in 2014. You can find out comprehensive

information about his programs, including testimonials, at
