Tip! For information on the number of SonicWALL Global VPN Client connections supported by your SonicWALL and Global VPN Client licensing for your SonicWALL, see “SonicWALL Global VPN Client Licenses” on page 41. Alert! If you are upgrading SonicWALL Global VPN Client from an earlier version to 4.0 and want to use the Retain MAC Address uninstall feature of the SonicWALL Virtual Adapter, you must uninstall the earlier version before installing Global VPN Client 4.0. Preparing for Installation of GVC64 Verify that your client system meets the following requirements before installing SonicWALL GVC 4.1 64-bit (GVC64): • SonicWALL GVC 4.1 64-bit (GVC64) uses a Windows Installer (.msi format) for ease of deployment. The new MSI installer requires that all older versions of GVC first be removed before installing SonicWALL GVC64. Use Windows Add/Remove Programs to remove any previous version of SonicWALL GVC. • For Vista systems, update device drivers for each Network Adapter card (NIC) to the latest available versions. You can check the NIC vendor Web site for these updates. • For systems with client based firewalls, verify that the firewall clients are Vista-compatible. Upgrade the firewall software to the latest version. Or, if you are not actively using the client, uninstall it prior to installing SonicWALL GVC64. • SonicWALL GVC64 encounters run-time conflicts when it co-exists with any 3 rd party IPSec VPN clients. Uninstall all IPSec VPN clients prior to installing SonicWALL GVC64. Installing SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.1 64-bit (GVC64) SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.1 is the first 64-bit compatible version of the SonicWALL Global VPN Client. If you are upgrading your Global VPN Client software, see “Upgrading SonicWALL Global VPN Client 4.1 64-bit (GVC64)” on page 17. Alert!
