Introduction
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) launched a new
brand identity in 2012. The design is positioned to help
NSI approved companies achieve universal recognition as
the benchmark for quality service delivery in the security,
fire and related FM industries, imparting a strong message
of confidence to customers and specifiers.
These guidelines contain specific detail on the NSI certification logos that should be used by our approved companies
and we would encourage you to use them.It is to your benefit to be recognised by prospective customers as an NSI
approved company.
It is therefore important to use the NSI logo options as specified in this document. By applying the appropriate logo in its
correct position and colour you will be helping us to protect the integrity of the NSI brand and increase its value for you.
If you are unsure of the logos you can use or have any other questions, please contact the Marketing Department
at NSI on 01628 764873
Our logo versions
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
Use the correct version
We have produced 4 versions of the
Gold and Silver logos for use at different
sizes and for when you are restricted by
reproduction quality or background colour.
Primary version with full intricate
detail within the medal illustration.
Full colour small version
for sizes less than 30mm
in height.
Graphic mono version for small or low quality
reproduction. Use either black or PANTONE 303 (blue).
The primary version should be used
when its height is greater than 30mm,
see opposite. This has more intricate
detail within the 3D medal.
> 30mm
< 30mm
For height sizes less than 30mm use either
the smaller full colour version or use the
mono graphic version if restricted to single
colour. We have simplified the medal so that
it is still legible.
A reversed out version is also available
when the logo is to be placed on a dark
background. Please refer to Section 1.4
for more information.
Using our logo on colour backgrounds
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
Legibility is paramount
We prefer our logo to be placed on light colour backgrounds such as these examples
Wherever possible we prefer our logo
to appear on a white or light colour
background. However, we appreciate
that this may not be sympathetic to your
promotional materials.
If the background is a light enough colour
we prefer that you use the full colour logo
and medal version as in the top row of
examples.
If the background is a dark colour or tone
then please use the reversed out white logo
with coloured medal or the option without
the coloured medal (see example on red
background).
Alternative option - Reversed out white logo with full colour medal (artwork files are available)
Exclusion zone & minimum size
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
It is important that all approved companies project our logo consistently and professionally,
without variation. On this page we show the importance of leaving space around the logo.
The exclusion zone
This is the clear space around the logo in
which nothing else should appear. It helps to
ensure clarity and improve the impact of the
logo. This clear space (X) is proportional and
is defined by the height of the NSI dot.
What not to do!
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
We have tried to cover the most obvious
mistakes in using our logos but in principle,
use the appropriate artwork files provided
and you shouldn’t have to change or alter
them in any way.
What not to do
7
1. Do not re-size or reposition the
elements of the logo.
7
7
7
2. Do not change or create an alternative logo
with the corporate ’medal’ or words.
3. Do not substitute different type faces
for the corporate logo element.
4. Do not change any of the colours
within the logo.
5. Do not sit the identity within secondary
shapes not specified in these guidelines.
7
7
7
7
6. Do not place the identity on an inappropriate
colour background (see section 1.4).
Developing a consistent and recognisable brand is important in creating customer and specifier
awareness. This can be further aided by positioning of the logo, as customers will also become
familiar with this element of consistency. The recommended positioning on your letterhead is at the
foot of the page as shown on this example. We recommend using the full colour small size version
at 26mm in height. Please refer to section 1.6 for exclusion zone and minimum size details.
You may only use the correct NSI certification logo according to the award attained. If restricted in
colour, you can use the mono graphic version in either black or PANTONE 303 (blue).
If you are unsure or would like some further advice about using our logo on your materials,
Using the logo on secondary items
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
The NSI certification logo can be used
on other secondary items in addition to
printed literature and corporate stationery.
These include corporate vehicles, company
uniforms, and advertisements. There is no
specific layout for these items as individual
company corporate style will dictate the
design. However, the NSI logo should always
be shown in its entirety, in its own corporate
colours and in the correct space and size as
illustrated previously.
As a guide we recommend positioning the
logo towards the bottom or footer of the
item or layout. This will then be consistent
with the stationery and become more easily
recognised.
The NSI/UKAS logo
// Section 2

Using the NSI/UKAS logos
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
Using the NSI certification logo on its
own provides a strong, clear and concise
impression. However, you may choose, where
appropriate, to incorporate the relevant UKAS
accreditation mark(s) alongside the NSI
certification logo.
There are three versions of the NSI/UKAS
identity available, depending on your level
of certification. The appropriate version
of the NSI certification logo should of
course be used in each case. The options
are shown opposite.
If you choose to use the NSI/UKAS identity,
it is very important that you comply with the
rules and guidelines laid down by UKAS, as
to where and how you use that identity, and
some of these rules and guidelines are stated
here. UKAS requires NSI, as the accredited
organisation, to ensure that:
• The UKAS logo is used in conjunction
with the applicable NSI certification logo
and never on its own.
• The UKAS logo is not used in any way that
might mislead the reader about the status of
your certification body. It is our responsibility
to minimise the risk of a client/reader being
misled as to the extent and limitations of our
UKAS accreditation.
• As your certification body, we audit the use
of the national accreditation marks.
Accordingly, you must not use the NSI/UKAS
identity in any context where a client of yours
or a reader of your material might be misled
as to the extent or scope of your accredited
certification.
N.B. UKAS have advised that by 31st August
2014, specific management system accreditation
symbols e.g. Quality Management, Environmental
Management, etc. must be replaced with the UKAS
Management System accreditation logo, as shown
within this document.
// Your guide to using the NSI logo on your promotional material
Reproducing the NSI/
UKAS logo in colour
The NSI/UKAS logo should preferably be
reproduced in its full colour version wherever
possible. It is always protected with a white
background. If you are restricted to using
single colour reproduction then use the
mono graphic version in either black or
PANTONE 303 (blue).
Do not use any other colour version that
is not shown here. Electronic artwork is
