Short Takes<br />
Pogonia. Pogonia is a genus of small<br />
bog orchids th<strong>at</strong> occur around the world<br />
and can form large colonies. We have been<br />
experiment<strong>in</strong>g with the alba form of Pogonia<br />
japonicum <strong>in</strong> our small artificial cranberry<br />
bog to assess hard<strong>in</strong>ess over w<strong>in</strong>ter.<br />
Dactylorhiza. Marsh orchids are common<br />
meadow orchids <strong>in</strong> Europe with limited occurence<br />
<strong>in</strong> East Coastal Canada as well.<br />
Dactylorhiza make nice racemes of purple to<br />
red with alba forms as well, dur<strong>in</strong>g the summer.<br />
We are assess<strong>in</strong>g ease of cultiv<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
and hard<strong>in</strong>ess of several species and hope to<br />
<strong>in</strong>troduce one or more <strong>in</strong> the com<strong>in</strong>g years.<br />

Flask<strong>in</strong>g service. We gener<strong>at</strong>ed 600 seedl<strong>in</strong>gs<br />
for clients <strong>in</strong> <strong>2010</strong> and have more than<br />
1000 <strong>in</strong> flask for delivery <strong>in</strong> 2011. In flask<br />
now for clients are Cypripedium, Phalaenopsis,<br />
C<strong>at</strong>tleya, Phragmipedium and Bletilla.<br />
