1925, The Book Store at <strong>Western</strong> is owned by<br />
The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Ontario</strong> and supports<br />
its academic mission. Primarily an educational<br />
resource for students and faculty, The Book Store<br />
provides course materials for all university courses<br />
in-store and online. The Book Store is the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
source <strong>of</strong> <strong>Western</strong> clothing, giftware and product.<br />
In partnerships with campus and community<br />
groups, The Book Store contributes to <strong>Western</strong>’s<br />
school spirit and culture. The Book Store is service<br />
driven and revenues support student services,<br />
facilities, and programming.<br />
Q: How will I know which textbooks to buy?<br />
A: The Book Store at <strong>Western</strong> provides two online<br />
options so that you can access your textbook list<br />
before classes start:<br />
1. Personal textbooks list at studentservices.<br />
uwo.ca. Have your student number and Access<br />
Code (PIN) ready.<br />
2. Textbook search by campus, term & course<br />
code at www.bookstore.uwo.ca/eSolution/<br />
course.php<br />
If your list is not complete, check back <strong>of</strong>ten. As<br />
textbook orders are processed, updates are posted<br />
on The Book Store’s web site daily.<br />
Q: How much should I budget for buying<br />
textbooks?<br />
A: The amount to budget for textbooks will depend<br />
on the number <strong>of</strong> courses you are taking, your<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essors’ requirements, your major and other<br />
factors. Because students typically buy school<br />
supplies like paper, notebooks, study guides, pens,<br />
dictionaries and more at the same time, it’s helpful<br />
to budget those expenses together. According to the<br />
National Association <strong>of</strong> College Stores, the average<br />
full-time student spends $750 to $900 per school<br />
year for course materials and supplies. Your actual<br />
purchases may vary.<br />
Book Store Textbook BuyBack<br />

During the months <strong>of</strong> May through to August,<br />
along with a couple <strong>of</strong> weeks immediately following<br />
December and April exams, The Book Store will<br />
buy back any old textbooks you might have lying<br />
around. Buyback prices are based on demand,<br />
however prices usually range from 30%-50% <strong>of</strong> the<br />
original retail value.<br />
