General Information

The Lied Activity Center has program offerings for youth and adults. Classes are open

to both members and non-members.

Cancellation Policy: If your program is cancelled due to not meeting minimum

class participation you may transfer into another class or request a refund. If you are

cancelling your enrollment you must cancel before the 2nd scheduled class. Refunds

will not be given after 2 scheduled classes. If you are cancelling due to a medical issue,

you must provide documentation from your doctor stating that you are to refrain from

physical activity, and submit the documentation to Bill Richards, Director of Activities.

Inclement weather: The Lied Activity Center will not open if the Bellevue Public

School District cancels classes. Breaks are allowed between sessions for

inclement weather make-ups & facility conflicts.

Registration Process

The Lied Activity Center has implemented a lottery drawing to avoid long lines that have

occurred in the past. This is more convenient for our patrons, as it allows registrations

to be completed during all hours of operation at our front desk. Payment is due at the

time of registration. If your child’s name is not drawn, your payment will be reimbursed.

• Pre-school will be drawn first; if a family member with multiple siblings gets drawn,

the other siblings will automatically be enrolled in requested levels. All other levels

will then be drawn until classes are filled.

• Those not drawn will be placed on a waiting list. We will make every attempt to

expand our program to meet the needs of your child. This will be based on how

many children we have on the waiting list, facility availability, and staffing.

• Notification calls will be made by our staff to inform you of your registration status on

the dates listed above.

• Those that are placed on the waiting list will be given more information at the time of

your notification call.

Learn to swim while having fun with our trained instructors. We offer Pre-school (3-4

year olds only) and levels one through six at the Lied Activity Center.

Swimming for Special Need Students

Introduction to water safety and basic water skills in a pool environment. ISEC and

Pre-school sessions.

Cost: $85 members; $110 non-members

Time/Dates: Classes consist of seven 30-minute sessions. Dates and times to be determined

Guard Start

A Red Cross certified class for students ages 11-14 that may be interested in becoming

a lifeguard. The course includes swimming, team building, communication and

lifeguarding skills.

Cost: $45 members; $65 non-members

Time/Dates: Classes consist of seven 1 hour sessions on Mondays at 7:00 p.m.

Have fun learning the basic skills for sports with Mom or Dad. Start Smart is a proven

instructional program, developed by top motor skills development specialists, which

helps prepare children for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition

or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work together with their child in a supportive

environment to learn all of the basic skills...throwing, catching, shooting, and batting

for sports such as baseball, basketball, football, etc. Each sport will provide you with

equipment which you will keep. No refunds after the second class.

Youth Volleyball League – Winter Session – Grades 3 - 6

The Lied Activity Center will host a youth volleyball league. Registrations will be taken

through January 5, 2014, or until teams are full, at the Lied Activity Center. Volunteers

for head and assistant coaches for the teams are needed. Let us know if you are

interested in coaching when you register for the program. No refunds after the

second class.

Youth Soccer Clinic

Cost: $10 members; $30 non-members

Time: 6:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Date: March 11 – 4, 5 & 6 year olds

March 18 – 7, 8 & 9 year olds

March 25 – 10, 11 & 12 year olds

Learn the fundamentals of soccer from Bellevue East and Bellevue West coaches and

players at a fun one night clinic. Registrations will be taken at the Lied Activity Center

until they fill up (80 children maximum per night).

2014 Winter/Spring One Wellness Programs

Welcome new and returning participants. All registrations are taken at the Lied Activity

Center. Please bring completed form and payment to the Lied Center Front Desk

during business hours Monday-Sunday. Payments will be processed at the time of

registration. Please note there will be a non-refundable $15.00 late fee for registrations

received after the last date of each registration period.

front desk and instructor that you are a guest.

If not registered for a current class, you may pay a drop-in fee of $8.00 per class for

members and $10.00 per class for non-members. Payment must be made before each

class at the front desk. You will be issued a class form for admittance to your group

fitness class and must be turned into the instructor.

The facility has the right to add/drop/change classes/instructors to meet program

and minimum class participation requirements of five paid registrations. Fitness

programs are designed for ages 16 & up. Participants younger than 19 must have

Missed Class Policy: If you miss a scheduled class you are encouraged to make

up the missed class by attending any class listed on the schedule during the current

Adult Wellness Programs

NEW Body HIIT- This class is designed to challenge and improve your aerobic and

anaerobic systems, pushing boundaries to help improve your stamina and muscular

strength. H.I.I.T also known as high intensity interval training is a total body, heart

pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning interval class designed to promote

maximum caloric burn. Get in on the latest fitness program that has proven results to

re-shape your body. You won’t want to miss it; you’ll want to HIIT It!

Body HIIT replaces our Boot Camp Specialty Program, but promises to bring the

same challenging and motivating workouts as boot camp. Spread the word and

bring your friends!

Fusion - Yoga and Pilates exercises blended together for an integrative mind/body

approach to exercise. Increase strength, promote flexibility with yoga; strengthen

abdominal and low back muscles with Pilates; the intent for both is to bring overall

awareness to the mind/body connection.

Muscle Max - Barbell training is a highly effective and efficient way to train for muscular

strength and endurance. Targeting all major muscle groups in a well-balanced format,

this 60-minute class challenges the entire body using barbells and hand weights.

Simple, yet effective exercises such as barbell squats, chest press, rowing, and

shoulder press, help boost metabolism and increase strength. Exercises such as

dumbbell bicep curls, tricep kickbacks and core exercise are finishing touches for a

complete workout. New time added 6:00-7:00 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Yoga - Find physical harmony through foundational yoga poses that work on strength,

flexibility and balance all while bringing awareness to your mental harmony through

conscious breath and relaxation techniques.

Kettlebell: The Workout - This class utilizes a weighted base and handle that is held in

your hand and provides the versatility to strengthen your body as much as it toughens

and conditions it. This format combines cardiovascular and strength training in one

workout without the impact on the joints.

Zumba® - The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow

moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal

is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked.

Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in

one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant

Focuses on maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the active older adult

Tai Chi - Movements are performed in a graceful, slow process, coupled with an

emphasis on deep breathing and mental focus. Create balance, flexibility and calmness

to relieve stress and allow for the integration of your mind and body. Accumulate energy

and leave refreshed and relaxed.

Real Strength - Regular strength training is the key to improving joint flexibility and

reducing the risk for the development of arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease or

diabetes. Strength training raises your metabolism and helps you to avoid the metabolic

sluggishness that often plagues people 50 and over. Exercises may be done seated

or standing.

Real Movement - A total body workout program for active individuals. This class

combines aerobic, flexibility, and strength training in a positive, energizing environment.

coordination, agility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance. Get ready for

a head-to-toe workout!

Real Flexibility - As a low impact form of exercise, stretching is gentle to the joints.

Join us for a class that will help you achieve a greater level of flexibility. Real Flexibility

will use the basic principles of Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates to improve overall flexibility

and balance.

Open to members and non-members

Whether you’re trying to maintain your current level of fitness or reach a new level, the

added benefit of training in water is that our aqua workouts are safe and fun without

impact to the joints. Our classes offer those with arthritis a safe and effective way to

maintain and increase their level of fitness.

Aqua Zumba® - Splash your way into shape with an invigorating low-impact aquatic

exercise. Known as the Zumba® “pool party,” integrating the Zumba® philosophy with

traditional aquatic fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba® blends it all together into a workout

that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.

Aqua Aerobics - The pool is the perfect place to enjoy freedom of movement with

minimal stress to the body and joints. A 3-for-1 workout, exercise for improved cardio,

muscular strength, and flexibility all in one class. Suitable for all fitness levels, come and

enjoy the benefits that aquatic training has to offer. Water shoes are recommended,

but not required.

H2O: Tabata - Intense interval training comes to the pool! Push yourself with easy to

follow, yet intense exercises following the Tabata protocol of 20 seconds of work followed

NEW Total Fitness Boxing - This progressive fitness boxing class will take your

training to the next level. Learn authentic upper and lower body boxing moves in the

group setting. This format covers safety, form, technique, hand wrapping, partner mitt

practice and shadow boxing. Get ready for a knock out workout.

(Equipment needs: Hand wraps, can be purchased from class instructor and information

on how to purchase gloves will be handed out in class. All other equipment is provided.)
