Van Data Control Screens Van Data Control Screens RMIS is designed to be updated through separate chronological data-entry screens that mirror real-time data requirements taken from manual records. For example, when a trailer is received empty from a supplier, the trailer number, date and time of pickup, and owner identification are manually recorded either on vehicle record forms or on other documents. These data must also be recorded in RMIS. Exhibit 6 shows the chronological cycle of events for trailers used in intermodal service. Van data control screens fall into three categories: ■ ■ ■ Origin points. Intermediate points. Destination points. Origin Point Data Van Initialization (IN Screen) Description. All trailers used in transportation must be input (initialized) through the van initialization (IN) screen. If a trailer is already in the system, RMIS does not allow a second entry (a duplicate record) of this particular trailer. Handbook PO-505 | May 2007 10
