Cosplay Policies
• Phoenix Comicon is all-ages and family friendly.
Act accordingly.
• Photography is not allowed to impede the flow of
foot traffic. Phoenix Comicon has designated
photo zones for taking pictures, use them.
• Wait for consent! Whether for photos,
hugs, or anything, ask first for clearly
expressed permission. And “Cosplay ≠
Consent.”
• No solicitations, not of services, parties,
not even “free hugs.”
PHOENIX COMICON CONVENTION POLICIES
Costume Policy
• Costumes must cover at least as much as
a swimsuit acceptable for public pools and
beaches. That coverage also applies to
chest enhancing padding. And no under- or
side-cupping.
• Body paint and nudity are NOT
costumes, and are prohibited
from convention premises. Phoenix
has nudity laws, and police
will be around.
• Remember appropriate undergar-
ments. And no see-through clothing,
or anything tight enough to
reveal your “nooks and crannies.”
• Protective footwear, with a hard
sole, is required. Rollerblades and
skates don’t count.
• Military and law enforcement cosplay
must not be realistic enough to pass
for the real thing.
• Costume appropriately. If your costume
is risqué or controversial enough to invite
complaints, please leave it at home.
• No swastikas or related paraphernalia.
Period.
• Religious cosplay must not be
inflammatory or disrespectful.
• Be aware of your surroundings.
Your costume must permit a clear
line of sight. If your costume has
extensions (like wings and spikes),
avoid bumping into things or
people.
• Props must be distinguishable
from real weapons at first glance.
