Peeblesshire Trout Fishing Association Free Angling Open Day – Fish for Free and help with the Conservation and Protection of Tweed Trout & Grayling As part of its involvement in the Tweed Trout & Grayling Initiative (which has the aim of protecting and enhancing the trout and Grayling populations of the Tweed system) the Peeblesshire Trout Fishing Association is holding a free angling open day on the 2 nd June. The aim of this is to collect catch information on Brown Trout and Grayling, and anglers from both within and outside the Tweed catchment are invited along to fly fish on the Peeblesshire TFA waters. To take part, anglers must register their attendance for the day in advance. Once they have registered, anglers will be given a time and place to meet on the morning of the 2 nd (and directions for those who need it). At the meeting place they will be provided with a day permit to fish and catch recording cards/pencil to record their catches (the Peeblesshire TFA Waters are catch & release only). Anglers who don’t know the Association water will be given maps/directions and advised on good places to fish, taking into account the angler’s preferences in regards to size of water (the PTFA has a large amount of water available of different sizes). Anglers will then fish until 4.00pm when they will be asked to return to their morning meeting point to hand over their catch recording cards. Any anglers wishing to fish into the evening after obtaining some dinner (there are plenty of places to eat in Peebles) can do so as long as they inform the organisers, continue to fill in the catch record sheets in the evening and arrange for the details of their catch record to be returned to the organisers (this can be done by e-mail, post or telephone). The day will be informal and will be a chance to meet other anglers and fish new waters for those who haven’t fished the Peeblesshire Waters before. To register for the day contact Kenny Galt on one of the following:- Tel: 07900 693 161 E-mail: kgalt@tweedfoundation.org.uk It is hoped that these open days can be held annually with the aim of collecting catch data for trout and Grayling from the waters of the Peeblesshire TFA. This catch data will, in the short term, provide excellent information on
