The Renaissance Curaçao Resort

& Casino couples the island style

and charm of Curaçao with a

uniquely European sophistication.

Encompassing a world of energy

and entertainment, a spectacular

beach experience and a fascinating

historical setting, it is easy to see

why this resort is unique in

the Caribbean.

Curaçao, tucked within the Dutch Caribbean,

lies just 35 miles off the north coast of South

America. Throughout the late 17th and early

18th centuries, Dutch influences prevailed,

creating a distinctive European flair to the

harbor-front capital of Willemstad. But as

trade thrived, Spanish, South American

and African roots took hold, lending the city

a vibrant, colorful character unique to the

Caribbean. Winding streets lead through

pastel architecture to quaint cafés and

shopping. The Queen Emma Pontoon bridge,

better known as the “Swinging Old Lady,”

spans the St. Anna Bay, and connects

the two halves of the city. It is here,

a short walk from the city center,

that the Renaissance Curaçao Resort

& Casino captures the energy of this

spectacular setting.

The Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino

is home to the Rif Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage

site. The fort, with 1.5 meter-thick walls, once

held 56 cannons in the 27 arches. It was originally

constructed in the 19th century to protect the

island from invasion by both pirates and other

enemies. Later, the purpose of the fort changed

as it became home to a radiotelegraphy unit

during World War II.

Today, the fort has taken on new life thanks

to the Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino.

Now, in contrast with its military past, the fort

offers a warm welcome to visitors. Where cannon

fire was once heard, music now plays. Where

soldiers once slept, groups of tourists dine

and are entertained.
