Nonpr<strong>of</strong>it and Public Management<br />
Students interested in careers in community<br />
and economic development, international<br />
development, education, the environment,<br />
the arts, social services, and government<br />
may take additional coursework in the<br />
Nonpr<strong>of</strong>it and Public Management<br />
<strong>Program</strong>. The program’s mission is to<br />
enhance the managerial and entrepreneurial<br />
capabilities <strong>of</strong> nonpr<strong>of</strong>it and public organizations<br />
by educating and training future<br />
leaders. The program also prepares students<br />
to work in businesses with links to nonpr<strong>of</strong>it<br />
and public organizations (for example,<br />
municipal finance or nonpr<strong>of</strong>it consulting)<br />
or to serve on their boards.<br />
The <strong>Haas</strong> <strong>School</strong> encourages students to<br />
design their own academic programs in this<br />
field. In addition to the course <strong>of</strong>ferings in<br />
marketing and fundraising, financial management,<br />
and other strategic issues, such as<br />
working with a board <strong>of</strong> directors, UC<br />
Berkeley courses in city and regional planning,<br />
education, law, natural resources, public<br />
health, public policy, and social welfare<br />
frequently augment students’ programs.<br />

and public organizations provide a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
consulting and internship opportunities.<br />
Real Estate<br />
Ranked among the nation’s top ten, the<br />
Real Estate <strong>Program</strong> combines analytic<br />
tools with hands-on field experience and<br />
prepares students for careers with real<br />
estate investment trusts, operating companies,<br />
developers, financial institutions, and<br />
consulting companies. Students study patterns<br />
<strong>of</strong> city growth and community development,<br />
public controls over land use,<br />
property law and valuation, and the functioning<br />
<strong>of</strong> real estate property and financial<br />
markets. The <strong>Haas</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers electives<br />
in areas such as real estate finance, investment<br />
analysis, housing and urban policy,<br />
and creating a real estate e-business.<br />
Courses, competitions, and summer internships<br />
provide opportunities to interact with<br />
industry leaders and with students in city<br />
