The increased surface area on the bottom of the<br />
chain serves to reduce bearing stress on wear plates,<br />

for a lightweight, long-lasting<br />
chain that would operate on existing 1/2" pitch<br />
sprockets. This was achieved by increasing the<br />
average thickness of individual links from 0.060"<br />
to 0.090" and increasing the pitch from 1/2" to 1".<br />
The resulting chain has less mass than a<br />
comparable width standard conveyor. With fewer<br />
joints per foot, it has a reduced number of<br />
contacts for fouling and wear.<br />
