NORTH MAHARASHTRA UNIVERSITY, JALGAON<br />

<strong>NMU</strong>-<strong>CCC</strong> <strong>Joint</strong> <strong>Degree</strong> <strong>Admission</strong> <strong>Announcement</strong><br />

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for 3 years <strong>Joint</strong> Bachelor<br />

<strong>Degree</strong> Programme between <strong>North</strong> Maharashtra University, Jalgaon and Cayuga Community<br />

College, Auburn, New York, USA. Last date for submitting the filled in application form to<br />

the University is 5 th May, 2013.<br />

1) Eligibility :<br />

(a) Students who have appeared for the XIIth STD examination of Maharashtra State<br />

Board of Higher Secondary Education, Central Board of Secondary Education<br />

(CBSE) or Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) and who are hoping to<br />

secure 70 % or more marks or its equivalent grades.<br />

(b) Students whose parents have sound financial position to support study in USA.<br />

2) Programmes Identified :<br />

Following four subjects have been short listed for starting the <strong>Joint</strong> Bachelor <strong>Degree</strong><br />

Programme between the two institutions in Phase-I.<br />

(a) B.Sc. (Microbiology).<br />

(b) B.Sc. (Computer Science)<br />

(c) B.Sc. (Chemistry)<br />

(d) Bachelor of Business Administration<br />

3) Models :<br />

Model 1 = 2+1 [2 years at <strong>CCC</strong> (Associate <strong>Degree</strong>) +1 year at <strong>NMU</strong> (Bachelor<br />

degree)].<br />

Model 2 = 1+1+1 [1 year at <strong>NMU</strong>, 1 year at <strong>CCC</strong> (Associate <strong>Degree</strong>) and Final year<br />

at <strong>NMU</strong> (Bachelor degree)].<br />

4) Students’ Profile :<br />

The <strong>CCC</strong> will waive the TOEFL requirement for the selected students from <strong>NMU</strong>.<br />

However, students must demonstrate English proficiency via the admissions<br />

placement test and required online chat sessions with the International <strong>Admission</strong>s<br />

officer.<br />

The <strong>NMU</strong> will proctor the admission tests on site at <strong>NMU</strong>. Students who do not pass<br />

the minimum score for placement in the college English and Math classes will not be<br />

eligible to proceed in the admissions process to <strong>CCC</strong>.<br />

Students must be in a position to provide all required documents to obtain a student<br />

F1 visa; this includes acceptance to the institution and the necessary financial<br />

documents.<br />

Students in each program must meet the required grade and G.P.A established by each<br />

institution in order to transfer the completed classes to the receiving institution.<br />

After admission to <strong>CCC</strong>, the students will be governed by the rules,<br />

regulations/guidelines of the that institutions.<br />

The curriculum guide sheets established for the joint degree programs will be used by<br />

each institution to advise each student. Guide sheets will be reviewed and updated in<br />

accordance with any program changes, periodically.<br />

<strong>NMU</strong> will provide all necessary admission documents to <strong>CCC</strong> and <strong>CCC</strong> will provide<br />

a final transcript of the students earned degree and course completions.<br />

All requirements for graduation at <strong>CCC</strong> must be fulfilled in order to earn the<br />

Associate’s <strong>Degree</strong>.<br />

All requirements for graduation at <strong>NMU</strong> must be fulfilled in order to earn the<br />

Bachelor’s <strong>Degree</strong>.<br />

<strong>NMU</strong> and <strong>CCC</strong> will provide an update of each student’s progress at the end of each<br />

semester. The intent to complete the program signed by students during the<br />

admissions process will include his/her permission for such communication.<br />

Students from <strong>NMU</strong> completing the joint admission degree program with either<br />

Model I or Model II shall be given preference during the admission to Master’s<br />

program run on campus.<br />

Grade sheets approved for academic year 2013-14 are available on the website at<br />

<strong>NMU</strong>-<strong>CCC</strong> link.<br />

5) Steps :<br />

a) Advertisement by the University in the month of April, 2013.<br />

b) <strong>Admission</strong> Test in the month of April-May, 2013.<br />

c) Paper work and necessary documents of short-listed students to be sent to<br />

Cayuga Community College, Auburn for screening in the month of June,<br />

2013.<br />

d) <strong>Admission</strong> offer letter to the students in the month of July, 2013 (First or<br />

second week).<br />

e) Processing for students USA Visa during the months of July-August, 2013.<br />

f) Pre-departure orientation for the students in 3 rd week of August, 2013.<br />

g) Students departure for USA around 25 th of August, 2013.<br />

h) Fall semester begins at the end of August, 2013.<br />

6) Requirements : (a) Valid Passport, (b) Sound financial position, (c) Willingness to<br />

adjust to different cultural environmental and culinary conditions, (d) Strong desire to<br />

make a career in basic and applied sciences, (e) should be a student of <strong>NMU</strong> and (f)<br />

Sign a bond indicating his/her desire to return India.<br />

$8,276 for the 2013-14 academic year<br />

The 2013-14 housing fee for Lattimore Hall will remain at the 2012-13 charges of<br />

$3240 per semester or $6280 for academic year (the application fee and security fee<br />

will be waived).<br />

Personal Expenses= Food, books, transportation and supplies are considered<br />

personal Expenses under the category of the cost of attending<br />

college and would be required to demonstrate their ability to<br />

support such expenses for the Student I20 and Visa.<br />

Students after successful completing 2 years at the Cayuga Community College,<br />

Auburn, USA will earn the Associate <strong>Degree</strong> of that Institution and earned credits will be<br />

transferred to the <strong>NMU</strong>, Jalgaon which shall be treated as equivalent to S.Y. B.Sc. Students<br />

shall have to complete third year in one of the seven colleges mentioned as above, in which<br />

he/she has taken formal admission before departing to Cayuga Community College, Auburn,<br />

USA.<br />

9) Fees for the Test : Rs. 1000/- to be payable by a Demand Draft in the name of<br />

Finance and Accounts Officer, <strong>NMU</strong>, Jalgaon.<br />
