We hope everyone is having a fantastic summer.

Although the heat has been brutal we are continuing

to see more and more members enjoying the Club

facilities. Over the next few months we will be

unveiling several new programs that will focus on

increased member activity and most importantly fun!

The Professional Instruction team at the Club is

focused on providing all of our members with world

class teaching. Over the summer we have been

meeting to develop new ideas and ways to help you

enjoy the game more. Our focus is to make golf fun

for you. In order to reach more members we will

be providing you with new formats of instruction.

Juniors will have an opportunity to participate in

clinics Monday – Saturday, Ladies will have clinics

available three days a week and we will once again

be offering our Figure it out Fridays in the Fall. If you

need further information please feel free to contact

any of your instructors.

Pardon our dust. During September the Golf Shop will

be undergoing a renovation. We are excited about

the change as it will allow us to offer more products

and services to you. This year we will be bringing in

products from some new vendors that we are sure

you will enjoy. Did you know that any one of our Golf

Professionals can custom fit you for a set of clubs?

Fitting is a must when purchasing new equipment.

Greetings from the Golf Pro shop!

A club that is not made for your specifications will

not give you the results you want. Fittings are free

to members and usually can be completed within 30

minutes. The prices you receive as a member will match

any legitimate that you can find on the internet.

Recently I have noticed that our Pace of Play has

begun to slow down again. For the enjoyment of

your fellow members we ask that you make sure that

your round does not take more than 4 hours. This is

more than enough time to complete eighteen holes

at Weston Hills. We have such a great Club. Let’s

not allow slow play to ruin the day. Here are some

helpful hints to help thos who need it move along:

We Play in 4!

The Members of Weston Hills Country Club wish you

a great day on the course. Playing golf at Weston

Hills at a reasonable pace is consistent with the

traditions of the game, the traditions of Weston Hills

and demonstrates the proper respect for others on

the course.

All groups playing at Weston Hills are required

to meet our Pace of Play Standard of:

• 4 hours or less for a foursome for eighteen holes

• 2 hours or less for a foursome for nine holes

The following Pace of Play Recommendations are

provided to help everyone meet this standard:

• 1st Tee Practices:

• Arrive to tee 15 minutes prior to tee time

• Mulligan’s are not permitted

• Organize game to be played prior to arriving to 1st tee

• Be aware of where you are at all times relative to the

group in front of you and the clock. In a four hour

round you should achieve the following checkpoints:

• Reach the 5th tee in one hour

• Reach the 11th tee in two hours and 15 minutes

• Reach the 14th tee in two hours and 45 minutes

• Rangers and Starters are authorized to ask

groups to speed up or to pick up their ball and

go to another hole

• Be prepared to play at all times:

• Be prepared to tee off

• Always carry an extra ball

• Repair ball marks and prepare to putt while others

are playing their ball

• Do not linger on the green; mark your scorecard on

the next tee

• Play “Ready Golf” at all times

• Play Smart Golf:

• Move directly to your ball – Avoid traveling in

groups drop off one cart Member at their ball and

then proceed to the second Members ball

• Watch other players’ shots in order to minimize the

need to search for lost balls

• Anticipate your shot by carrying several clubs with you

• Be ready to hit at all times

• Always rake your own bunkers, fill divots with sand

and fix ball marks

• Play from appropriate tees – guests with a handicap

of 10 or higher may not play from the back tees

• Help others maintain a proper pace with

• Use the time spent moving to your ball to get

yardages and think about your next shot

• If you have reached your maximum allowed score,

pick up

Respect the other members on the course by

moving at an appropriate speed. A slow round

ruins everyone’s enjoyment of the courses and

the day!

With our summer storms it is a good idea to remind

everyone that you are required to come in when the

siren sounds. We have recently undergone a major

maintenance of the Thor Gard system and all sirens

are working properly. The system is designed to

protect you from a dangerous situation. Please heed

the siren warning and seek shelter immediately.

Have a safe and happy summer.

The Women’s Golf Association is looking forward to

another exciting season of fun golf games, friendly

competition, meeting new people and hanging with

event is open to anyone in the 9 and 18 hole groups.

convert your 3 worst holes to par. As always, the signup

board in the back of the Ladies’ Locker Room. Shotgun

start will begin at 8:30 a.m, so please be in your carts

Niles and Andy Culberson have done a fantastic job

putting together the golf schedule for this season and

Awareness Month.

Remember, it is never too late to join, as we welcome

Summer is coming to a close and your 9 Hole

Executive Board is looking forward to another great

season of golf!

We’re excited about our calendar of events this year

and have made some changes based on the feedback

we’ve received from our membership. One of the big

changes this season is that our annual Rally for the

Cure tournament is moving to October 18th, so things

are in full swing to prepare for the big day. Opening

day for the season is Tuesday, September 20th, which

will kick off with the Membership Coffee and Opening

Scramble at 8:30am. The Scramble will include both

the 9 and 18 Holers, followed by lunch.

Please mark your calendars for a meeting of all

current and prospective 9 Hole members for a

membership coffee at 9:30am in the card room on

September 14th. The coffee will be an opportunity

to reconnect with each other, meet new members,

review the calendar for the season and hear from our

committee chairs.

Membership forms have been mailed and should be

returned to:

All new members interested in joining can access the

form by calling Arlene or going to the club website.
