◢◢Requirements
An oil separator is designed to catch the source of pollutants
carried by run-off waters.
We offer a wide range of oil separators conform to standards
EN 858-1.
◢◢Fields of application
According to current rules, the oil separators have to be used
for the pre-treatment of surface waters carrying hydrocarbons,
for example:
▢▢ To treat waters stemming from industrial
processes, from the washing of vehicles, from
the cleaning of oil coated elements.
▢▢ To treat rainy waters (drainage waters)
contaminated by the oil resulting from waterproof
zones (car parks, roads, factories, …).
▢▢ To hold wide-spread light liquids and to protect
the surrounding zone (gas stations)
◢◢Advices
1. The rule becomes more and more strict as regards the
quantity of hydrocarbons rejected in natural environment.
It is the reason why we advise to rather use devices
provided with a coalescing filter which assures a
hydrocarbon discharge lower than 5 mg/l.
2. The good working of the separator imposes a sludge
trap large enough for allowing the settling of muds (see
following page).
3. The installation of the separator will largely be facilitated
if the level of water has been correctly measured.
We propose, for that purpose, fixed or adjustable extension
shafts which allow to position the device without
problem.
How to choose your device
ROTOMOUL.
INTRO
The choice of an oil separator is often related to specific constraints of the considered case. We
give hereafter a summary of the criteria which can help to dimension the separator. As you can
easily understand, these tables do not consider the particular cases which can arise: please take
contact with our offices in case of doubt.
▢▢ polluted load to treat
◢◢Covered surfaces
In case of covered surfaces, rejected waters primarily come
from cleaning. The flow rate of the device will thus be calculated
according to the number of taps, heads, and all the
hydrocarbon rejects. For covered carparks, the table opposite
gives the size of the device according to the surface.
Flow
l/sec
◢◢Uncovered surfaces
The flow is directly related to the pluviometry, to the surface
of the catchment area and to the slope of the network.
▢▢ Separator without by-pass
For areas smaller than 1.400 m 2 , you’ll find in the table opposite
the flow rate and the type of separator taking into account
a pluviometry of 150 l/ha/sec. In this case the device treats
the totality of the incoming flow.
▢▢ Separator with by-pass
In this case the device treats ± 1/3 of the total incoming flow,
it allows to absorb an important flow in the event of storm, it
is especially adapted to treat water from uncovered carparks.
We strongly disadvise the use of an oil separator with by-pass
in an area where hydrocarbon is stored.
Maintenance instructions
▢▢ Empty sludge and hydrocarbons.
▢▢ The frequency of emptying depends on the
quantity of polluted matters in the separators.
▢▢ The sludge trap will be emptied once a year.
Separator with framing.
For above the ground placing (without walls)
▢▢ The separator compartment will be checked
once a year. If the layer of hydrocarbons is
thicker tan 10 cm, it has then to be removed.
▢▢ In case of accidental heavier flow of
hydrocarbons, the separator has to be totally
emptied and the filled up with clear water.
CLASSES
1. OIL separator in PE with coalescing filter (output class I)
and sampling unit
▢▢ Tank made out of polyethylene high
density, entirely corrosion resistant.
▢▢ Increased mechanical resistance:
tank in HDPE round shaped.
▢▢ Interior accessories out of stainless steel or polyethylene.
▢▢ The separator is equipped with an automatic plugging
device with a stainless steel arm and a polyethylene float.
▢▢ In and outlets in HDPE adaptable to PVC.
▢▢ Round extension shafts Ø 630 mm: easier to inspect.
▢ ▢ Fitted with or without sludge trap (really
proportioned according to standards EN858-1).
▢▢ With coalescing filter: hydrocarbon rejection on treated
flow < 5 mg/l for hydrocarbons of density 0,85 according to
the conditions of standards EN 858-1 (class 1).
Filter is easily removable from the outside (without
entering the separator). Greater ease of handling thanks
to frame and handle in stainless steel. Hydrocarbons have
a longer way inside the separator:filter is off-centered.
▢ ▢ With or without autonomous by-pass channel.
▢▢ The “intelligent” float is subject of a patent (2002/0538).
Calibrated at 0,85 it is assembled on a mobility bar in
stainless steel and ensures an automatic closing as soon
as the holding capacity is reached. Thanks to its position,
the high holding capacity considerably reduces drainings.
▢ ▢ With or without pumps.
▢▢ The separator is waterproof guaranteed because it has not
been perforated for the fixing of the internal elements..
▢▢ Pre set-up of the sampling unit (option).
▢▢ Handles.
▢▢ Lifting eye bolt.
