Information for exchange students<br />

All the information regarding the exchange can be found from our website:<br />

Documents to be sent:<br />

o Student Application Form<br />

o Learning Agreement<br />

o Extract <strong>of</strong> Study Register from the home institution<br />

o Letter <strong>of</strong> Motivation/CV (in case <strong>of</strong> practical training/thesis)<br />

It is advisable to send the documents scanned as an email attachment/fax and by regular mail to<br />

the responsible <strong>VAMK</strong> International Coordinator<br />

Application deadline for Autumn Semester (starts at the end <strong>of</strong> August) is May 15 and for Spring<br />

Semester (starts beginning <strong>of</strong> January) is November 15.<br />

When the student has been accepted, we will send an Acceptance Letter together with an<br />

information package to the address that has been provided by the student in the Application Form.<br />

We <strong>of</strong>fer a Pick-Up Service (free <strong>of</strong> charge) for the students upon their arrival to Vaasa (when<br />

possible). More details can be found in the information letter upon the student’s acceptance.<br />

Accommodation: All exchange students are advised to apply for housing from VOAS, Vaasa<br />

Student Housing Foundation. To apply, please visit VOAS web site at http://www.voas.fi and fill in<br />

the application form. If you need assistance, please contact asuntotoimisto@voas.fi .<br />

Information Technology<br />

The IT undergraduate degree programme is conducted in English. All the courses are available for exchange<br />

students. The Specialised Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Studies include:<br />

We <strong>of</strong>fer also a possibility <strong>of</strong> completing a final project/thesis or an internship at the Technobothnia<br />

high-tech laboratory (places are limited). For more details, please contact the International Coordinator for<br />

the School <strong>of</strong> Technology.<br />

International Business<br />

The International Business undergraduate degree programme is conducted in English. Exchange students<br />

are recommended to focus on subjects from the 2 nd and 3 rd year level. The specialisation options are:<br />

International Marketing<br />

Foreign Trade<br />

International Management<br />

Production <strong>of</strong> Tourism Experiences<br />

Internship places are not being <strong>of</strong>fered in this programme.<br />

Health Care and Social Services<br />

The department <strong>of</strong> nursing <strong>of</strong>fers a 20 ECTS “International Study Module in Nursing” consisting <strong>of</strong><br />

theoretical studies, individual project work and clinical placements. The studies can be conducted during<br />

autumn or spring semester.<br />

The department <strong>of</strong> social services <strong>of</strong>fers in cooperation with Novia <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Applied</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> a 21<br />

ECTS study module. The program covers various aspects <strong>of</strong> internationally related welfare issues. The<br />

module is usually organised during spring semester, please check the availability from the International<br />

Coordinator for the School <strong>of</strong> Health Care and Social Services.<br />

A limited number <strong>of</strong> internship placements for nursing and social work students are <strong>of</strong>fered. Please note<br />

the nomination deadlines: March 15 for the autumn semester, October 15 for the spring semester.<br />

Mechanical Engineering<br />

Energy Management module (110ECTS) is conducted in English and available for exchange students. The<br />

module is designed for students interested in the field <strong>of</strong> future energy industry and management, and<br />

contains courses related on renewable and clean energy technologies and their environmental demands.<br />

For final project/thesis, please contact the International Coordinator for the School <strong>of</strong> Technology.
