Viatana mediates between periphery and traffic participants with a balanced, concise language of design.

Its primary strength is sovereignty, to be integrated into all architectural and cultural surroundings. Its

innovative luminaire body corresponds to the innate functionality of LED technology and is simultaneously

characterised by a luminous form of aesthetics in terms of design. Its function of creating defined light

characterises the spatial concept of the anatomy of the elegant column. Viatana fulfils the sense of form

that floats above our heads and serves to bring a hint of carefree freedom and lightness nearer to the

commotion of urban traffic areas. With sides that are reminiscent of two wings directed forwards, Viatana

finds its place between sky and earth. In this way it unites dynamism and peace, ensures safety and trust,

is kind to our perception and strengthens our concentration on the route towards our destination. Viatana

has been developed with a focus on efficiency and sustainability. Its design communicates its advantages

with a sense of grace.

Viatana – attractive on all roads

With Viatana, TRILUX supplements its portfolio

of technical outdoor luminaires with

a series that meets a diversity of differing

requirements for outdoor lighting solutions.

Wolfgang Nückel, Product Manager at TRILUX,

discusses the particular features and benefits

that make Viatana so unique.

Mr Nückel, how would you describe Viatana

in one sentence to somebody who had

never heard anything about this outdoor

luminaire?

Wolfgang Nückel: “That’s easy. The Viatana is attractive on all roads, and not only in terms

of its appealing design. It is also versatile, is especially energy-efficient and also highly

economic when it comes to installation as well. This means that for decision-makers in local

municipalities and users of outdoor lighting systems, Viatana is an attractive lighting solution

in every respect.”

What is meant exactly with variable use

in application?

Wolfgang Nückel: “Viatana is available with luminaire luminous flux levels between 2,000 lm

and 9,000 lm, which means that it’s suitable for residential areas, main traffic roads and also

for parking lots.”

How is Viatana so efficient?

With the use of LEDs?

Wolfgang Nückel: “Not only that! With the Viatana we also use state-of-the-art, standardised

LED modules that make later replacement highly simple. We’re especially proud of the

reflector that we newly developed for the Viatana. This consists of metallised plastic, and was

optimised with the latest software in our photometric development department. The result is

that the reflector distributes the light onto the road section with a high level of lumen yield,

and specifically targeted.

An optimal interplay of LED and

reflector then?

Wolfgang Nückel: “Exactly. It’s this combination of state-of-the-art reflector technology and

LED that is especially energy-efficient. Viatana is also equipped with modern, configurable

control gear, for example, this allows switching concepts that reduce power consumption for

additional energy savings.”

That certainly sounds very promising.

Does this cost efficiency also apply to the

installation and maintenance?

Wolfgang Nückel: “Of course. Only one mounting point means the luminaire is installed very

quickly. We’ve accommodated the electrical components on a gear tray that is removable

without tools, and this makes the electrical connection simpler and maintenance as well.”

You also mentioned an attractive design.

Can you be more specific about that?

Wolfgang Nückel: “For development of the Viatana we worked together with the designer

Rino Bossy. The result pleased us all - we’ve created a luminaire that represents an innovative

complete package. It’s both exceptionally functional and also timeless and aesthetic in

terms of design. Because the Viatana is available as post-top and bracket-mounted luminaire,

we matched and optimised the design for both variants. This means in turn that the

luminaire blends effortlessly with all types of urban landscape and achieves a high recognition

factor and long acceptance.

Directional. And future-fit.

Light on public roads is a complex theme. It has to be bright enough for vehicle drivers and pedestrians to

find their way and for potential accidents to be avoided. But it is not only the quality and efficiency of the

light that is decisive– economic use must also be taken into account when planning public lighting. Here

luminaires are recommended that keep total operational costs as low as possible via outstanding efficiency,

extreme ease of installation and maintenance, as well as extremely long-life materials. The TRILUX Viatana

is also fit for the future thanks to an LED module designed according to ZHAGA specifications.

of the standardised LED modules according to Zhaga specification.

Efficient: The latest free-form reflector technology for optimal illumination

and intelligent switching concepts for power reduction ensure a high level

The Viatana series has been designed for both

post-top and bracket-mounted installation.

The luminaire has been adapted to the desired

mounting type via various mast mountings of

diecast aluminium. The mounting elements

blend harmoniously into the design concept

of the luminaire, and high quality materials

ensure a long operational service life. For

example, TRILUX uses sulphur-free sealing

materials because sulphurous fumes are

liable to damage LEDs and reduce their

service life.

The unique Viatana reflector technology enables

a wide application spectrum, and thanks

to optimal light control is ideal for various

lighting needs. The computer-optimised,

vaporised 3D freeform matt reflector guarantees

high efficiency and a high level of visual

comfort by distributing the light onto the road

section with a high level of lumen yield, and

specifically targeted.

A special optic is available for the illumination

of pedestrian crossings.

The technical concept of the Viatana has been

consistently focused for outdoor luminaires in

compliance with the Zhaga specification for

standardised LED modules. Thanks to sophisticated

thermal management and the patented

mounting system, the Viatana represents a

high quality product with long service life and

simple exchangeability.

Access to and replacement of the electrical

block is implemented without tools, and plug

connections ensure simple electrical contact.

A configurable control unit offers a diversity

of switching variants and protective functions

for operation of both LED modules.

Luminous flux constant control, protection

against thermal overload of the LED modules

and overvoltage protection of the ECG to 4 kV

come as standard with the Viatana.

Viatana FÜR

Lighting solutions for pedestrian crossings

The illumination of pedestrian crossings ensures safety for pedestrians

when crossing the road. If an insufficiently high lighting level exists

on the road, then supplementary lighting must be planned in Germany

according to DIN 67523 that illuminates the pedestrian to achieve positive

contrast. The table below lists planning examples for differing

system geometries which fulfil minimum requirements according to

DIN 67523 (E v,m ≥ 30 lx; E v,min ≥ 4 lx).
