A tree uses what comes its way to nurture itself. By sinking its roots deeply into the earth,

by accepting the rain that flows towards it, by reaching out to the sun, the tree perfects its

character and becomes great. ... Absorb, absorb, absorb. That is the secret of the tree.

- Deng Ming-Dao, Everyday Tao, 1996

Today’s Vision

Tomorrow’sReality

It is my distinct pleasure to continue my tenure as the President of the Board of Directors for the Northwest

Child Development Centers. While it was time for me to rotate out of the position, I am pleased to oblige

the Board of Directors request to serve through the completion of the organization’s Strategic Planning

process. As we move forward with continuing to ensure the stability and growth of NWCDC, know that each board member takes

our responsibility to provide quality child care services very seriously. We work to ensure the administrative team, staff, parents and

children are afforded the opportunity to play an active role in the sustaining and development of such an awesome organization.

The mission of Northwest Child Development Centers, Inc. is ever before us. Our aim is to provide affordable, quality child development

services to children, their families and the community through early learning, structured and nurturing environments.

As we move forward into a new year, we are even more dedicated to fulfilling the

mission by making “Today’s Vision – Tomorrow’s Reality.”

As you will see during the upcoming year our focus is to improve technology, advance our centers and increase teacher qualifications.

We are certain that our efforts will prove beneficial to the children and families we serve. As always we welcome the support of the

community and parents. It is through our partnerships and collaborations that we are able to maximize our resources and amplify our

impact. Northwest Child Development Centers looks forward to another productive and successful year.

Kindest regards,

V. Marc Winbush

Leter From The CEO

This past year has been very productive as we have worked to make certain that our parents and children receive the highest quality child

care possible. We are excited about our theme for the upcoming year “Today’s Vision – Tomorrow’s Reality.” Northwest Child Development

Center’s Board of Directors and staff realize the great impact that we have on the development of children. Because of that we take immense

care and concern to ensure that the educational development of our precious little ones is steeped in a well thought out vision which shall

eventually reach reality.

As professionals charged with the education of infants and toddlers, our focus and

goal is to improve facilities, advance technology and increase teacher

qualifications.

Northwest Child Development Centers is proud of the fact that each of our centers either has received the coveted five star rating or at

minimum four stars. Our center Directors will continue to ensure that the staff and facilities take all necessary measures which foster the

actions, behavior and curriculum which help us earn these high ratings.

Thanks to funding from Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, NWCDC is

going through the second phase of its Strategic Planning Process.

This plan will guide our actions over the course of the next year to ensure that not only do we effectively educate and care for those enrolled

in our facilities, but also that we reach out into the community to provide information and services which further helps us to fulfill our mission.

A dedicated team of Board Members, staff, parents and community members meet twice each week to evaluate the organization, explore

options and develop action plans. It has been an intense process which is proving to be both valuable and eye-opening. We thank the

committee members for their participation and are excited about the finished product and the final plan.

Today’s Vision 12

The economy continues to be a major factor in our operations and the

decisions made concerning Northwest Child Development Centers.

However, we are determined to remain an organization which provides

quality, affordable child care to children. As I always say, we know

Northwest Child Development has a rich history of providing quality child

care services. In the coming year we will strengthen our programs and

customize them even more to make a marked impact in Winston-Salem

and beyond.

Your participation is essential as we work to make Today’s Vision –

Tomorrow’s Reality.

Sincerely,

Tony

What does he plant who plants a tree? He plants the friend of sun and sky;

He plants the flag of breezes free; The shaft of beauty, towering high;

He plants a home to heaven anigh; For song and mother-croon of bird.

In hushed and happy twilight heard; The treble of heaven’s harmony

These things he plants who plants a tree.
