CELEBRATING 30 YEARS
This Autumn Chris Mercer MNAEA will be celebrating 30 years in the
Spanish property industry. Chris started out in 1983 and sold property
in and around the Denia region of the Costa Blanca before going out
on his own in 1994. He helped to create the market that we now have

As Chris recalls “I remember seeing
Camposol for the first time in February 1996.
Camposol was literally a field, without any
roads or properties and I marvelled at the
foresight and courage of Grupo Masa to start
such a large scale development. We launched
back in April 1996 and I remember selling
Fortuna villas on 400m 2 plots on sector A for
£28,500 and Neptuno’s for £59,900!!!”

Not all Agents are Equal
Back in January, we forecast a
25% increase in house sales for
2013 over 2012. However, judging
by our statistics from the first six
months, we have already achieved
a massive 70% year-on-year
increase in sales. This is remarkable
in the current climate and once again demonstrates that Mercers
have their finger on the pulse and are delivering what our buyers
want - property at realistic prices.
With our sales already increasing by 70% over last year, we
are certainly on the right track and this is confirmed by the
number of happy buyers and referral clients we are attracting.
Has the market finally turned and are we going to see prices
rising soon? Prices are driven up by demand, so it is inevitable
that as demand increases, prices will start to increase.

The Spanish press have reported that
the necessary paperwork should be
completed so that the new airport at
Corvera can open in time for the 2014
holiday season. Corvera Airport will
take over from San Javier (Murcia)
and with air travel volume at Alicante
back to 2007 levels, this bodes well
for the region.
Tourism figures for our region also
make great reading. Murcia
welcomed 342,054 visitors in the
first seven months of 2013. That is
an increase of 8.1% or 25,589 more
