Story One:
The lightning
leopard
by Jo’s class
Billy felt worried because he was alone
walking through the steaming jungle, with
leaves crunching underfoot and monkey
chatter all around. He had left the camp
and his good friends Peter and ‘Just Plain
Harry’ cooking lunch and was heading out
to explore. The noise of thunder in the
distance and the flashes of lightning were
scaring him. Billy was searching for the
leopard through the fountain of sunlight
with itchy insects and red ants bugging
him.
Billy kept on walking through the jungle.
The booms of thunder sounded like
fireworks or like a revving Bugatti Veyron.
Suddenly a leopard leaped in front of him
and Billy’s eyes nearly popped out of his
head. Billy jumped back and the leopard
walked towards him. The leopard opened
his mouth wide and just as he was about
to snap onto Billy’s head, the leopard was
struck by lightning. The leopard began to
smoke and he sizzled and his fur stood on
end. As the electricity coursed through the
leopard’s body the leopard began to grow
and grow and grow. Soon the leopard was
the as big as a horse.
Billy got scared as he watched the leopard
grow. His heart was racing and cold shivers
ran down his spine. He tried to run away,
but the leopard bent down, picked Billy
up in his massive teeth and popped Billy
onto his back.
Meanwhile, back at the camp everything
was dripping and squelching and the smell
of sizzling sausages wafted through the air.
‘Just Plain’ Harry was turning the sausages
as Peter ran by chasing a turkey.
“Somebody stop that turkey!” shouted
Peter.
“Gobble, gobble, gobble,” went the
turkey.
Just Plain Harry rolled his eyes. The camp
had been so nice and calm, but things were
about to get a lot worse.
The leopard was woofing like a wolf as
Billy rode it through the jungle. Billy was
gripping on to the tiger’s fire. As he swayed
from side to side he thought “it’s just like
being on a ride at Thorpe Park” Harry
and Peter looked scared as Billy rode the
leopard into the camp.
