Sideways knit bamboo cardigan. Bamboo yarn contributes to the swing fronts and picot<br />

edges along the button bands and cuffs add to the wearability of this design. Neckline and<br />

hem are edged in single crochet.<br />

BODY<br />

Provisionally cast on 83 sts.<br />

Row 1 (WS): Purl.<br />

Row 2 (RS): Knit.<br />

Rep last 2 rows once.<br />

Row 5: Purl.<br />

Row 6 (picot edging): *K2tog, yo; rep from * to last st, k1.<br />

Row 7: Purl.<br />

Row 8: Knit.<br />

Rep last 2 rows once.<br />

Row 11: Purl.<br />

Row 12 (RS): Join the hem by knitting one stitch on the needle with the corresponding stitch<br />

from the provisional cast-on. 83 sts.<br />

Row 13 (WS): Inc 1, p to end.<br />

Row 14: Knit.<br />

Rep last two rows ten times more. 94 sts.<br />

*Row 25 (WS): P2tog, p to end.<br />

Row 26: Knit.<br />

Row 55: BO 2, p to end. 77 sts.<br />

Row 56: Knit.<br />

Row 57: BO 3, p to end. 74 sts.<br />

Work straight in stockinette stitch for 10 inches.<br />

Repeat from * to * once more for second armhole (rows 25- 95).<br />

Next row (RS): K to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.<br />

Rep last 2 rows 10 times more 83 sts.<br />

Work 5 rows in stockinette stitch.<br />

Next row (buttonhole row): K66, k2tog, yo, k6, k2tog, yo, k to end.<br />

Work 3 rows in stockinette stitch.<br />

Fold the hem along the picot edging and carefully sew the live sts down to match the hem at<br />

SLEEVES (Make 2)<br />

Provisionally cast on 44 sts. Join, being careful not to twist. Place marker.<br />

Knit 5 rounds.<br />

Round 6: *K2tog, yo; rep from * to end.<br />

Knit 5 rounds.<br />

Round 12 (RS): Join the hem by knitting one stitch on the needle with the corresponding<br />

stitch from the provisional cast-on.<br />

Knit 1 round.<br />

Increase round: K1, inc 1, k to last st, inc 1, k1.<br />

Knit 5 rounds.<br />

Rep last 6 rounds 13 times more. 72 sts.<br />

Work straight until piece measures 18 inches from picot hemline.<br />

Next round: K 68, BO 4. Remove marker.<br />

Next round: BO 4, k to end. 64 sts. You will now be working back and forth.<br />

Next row (RS): BO 4, k to end.<br />

Next row (WS): BO 4, p to end.<br />

Rep last 2 rows 4 times more. 24 sts.<br />

Next row (RS): K1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.<br />

Next row: Purl.<br />

Rep last 2 rows until there are 16 sts. BO loosely.<br />

Finishing:<br />

Ease sleeve caps into armholes, matching tops of armholes to edge of BO row of sleeves.<br />

Work 3 rows single crochet along front right neck, top of right sleeve, back neck, top of left<br />

sleeve, and along front left neck.<br />

Work 1 row single crochet across bottom hem.<br />

Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
