most was a commercial risk. There was a lawsuit brought and based on

our initial underwriting observations...and I don’t want to get into any

personal details, but we encouraged a line of coverage that the business

owner really didn’t want. But we just really kind of pushed it based

on some of their rules and business practices. Well, it turned out that

they reluctantly took the coverage and about a year later, a lawsuit was

brought against them. The insurance covered their legal expenses that

they would have otherwise had to pay out of pocket.

Levvy: See! That is why you need liability insurance, people! Wow!

Doug: It was pretty ugly!

Levvy: What advice would you give someone who might perhaps, say,

have multiple policies but they are at different agencies because just

through the years they have signed up here and signed up there...

Doug: The biggest drawback that I see of having your policies at different

agencies, is that you don’t know what the gaps are. Where you assume

that XYZ company is covering you for something, or ABC company is

covering you for something and neither one of them are! A lot of

people find out they have gaps in their coverage when it is too late.

Levvy: Multiple policies and no coverage. That could be bad! So it is best

to have one agent.

Levvy: Yes, it would be a good time for a second opinion there, I see that.

Well, a lot of people in town here don’t own their own home. They are

renters. What kind of advice do you have for them?

Doug: We do offer renter’s insurance. And I don’t know if a lot of people

know, but renter’s insurance is very affordable, but by adding it to your auto

policy, you still get the multi-policy discount.

Levvy: Well do you have any suggestions about auto insurance? Not just

covering accidents, but break-ins? Is that the same thing as liability?

Lou De Angelis: Most people believe if your auto is broken into, any contents

stolen would be covered by the auto policy. That is not true. The coverage

comes from your homeowners or renters policy.

Levvy:Wow, that is a very good tip to know. That’s an awesome tip I didn’t

know. I’m just curious now, where are the offices located? And are you open

now? How would someone get in touch with you?

CORD MEDIA CREATIVE

HONORED WITH THREE TELLY AWARDS

Stonewall Gardens to Host

LGBT Pride Event

on Anniversary of Stonewall Riots

OPEN HOUSE IS FIRST IN A SERIES WITH FASCINATING GUEST SPEAKER

PALM SPRINGS – Stonewall Gardens, Palm Springs’ first senior assisted

living village for the LGBT community and friends, will host a community

Open House on the anniversary of the Stonewall riots, Sunday, June

28, at 10:00 AM.

Guest speaker Richard Pass will relay his first-hand experience as he

witnessed the rebellion and riots, which took place on June 28, 1969

at the Stonewall Inn in New York’s Greenwich Village. The melee is

widely considered to be the single most important event leading to the

gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBT rights in the

United States. Audience members will be encouraged to share their

own personal reminiscences as well.

A native of England who grew up under the cloud of World War II, Richard

explains how his life path brought him to Manhattan that fateful

night: “After the war, my parents moved us to Buenos Aires, and then

a return to London until New York called me in the late 1960’s when I

got a job with the British Embassy. On the dreaded night of Judy Garland’s

funeral, I was having a gay old time in the storied Stonewall Inn

in Greenwich Village.”

In 2010 Richard and his husband Curt decided to be more than weekenders

in Palm Springs and moved to the gay-friendly resort town as

full-time residents. He added, “I feel my life in America has come full

circle, starting in New York with the shocking and life-changing events

at one place called Stonewall, and today I’m involved with this new,

positive and supportive place also named Stonewall.”

Cord Media Company, a full-service agency specializing

in creative, media, integrated marketing and branding,

has been honored with three Telly Awards for their video

productions, announced Jonas Udcoff, CEO. Cord Media’s

talented in-house video production team writes, directs,

shoots and edits all TV and radio campaigns.

Cord Media was awarded a Silver Award, the highest possible honor, for their

“Zoorassic” commercial created for The Living Desert (Palm Desert, CA). The

TV spot, which aired in the Palm Springs market, was created as a teaser spot

to promote the opening of Zoorassic Park, a live stage show, and dinosaur

related activities in the zoo. The commercial featured a prop dinosaur

footprint buried in the ground which was embellished with post-production

sound and special effects give viewers the sense that a giant dinosaur was fast

approaching.

“This is a tremendous achievement for our agency,” said Udcoff. “The Telly is

one of the most sought-after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry,

so to be honored with three awards, including the top Silver Award, makes us

so proud.”

Cord Media also garnered two Bronze Telly Awards in the commercial

category. The first honor recognized the agency’s work on a commercial for

Frasca Jewelers (Palm Desert, CA). Many pieces of exquisite jewelry pieces

offered by Frasca were presented by a model/actress playing out scenes of her

daily life.

The third award was earned for a 30-second spot for Patios Plus (Rancho

Mirage, CA), an outdoor furnishings company. A special time-lapse camera

dolly was utilized to present the high-end furniture under a changing sky and

daylight.

Refreshments will be served and tours of the community will be available.

Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to arrive early. No

RSVP is required.

Executive Director Gary King added “As Stonewall Gardens takes its

place in the local community, we plan to schedule many more events

like this, and are currently putting together a series of Open House

events with a variety of guest speakers that will take the form of an

Oral History series.” Details of the series and its schedule will be announced

soon.

Located at 2150 N. Palm Canyon Drive in the burgeoning Uptown

neighborhood of Palm Springs, the 24-unit community is operated by

Northstar Senior Living, one of the premier providers of senior living in

the country.

Stonewall Gardens is not a retirement community, but rather a place

where LGBT seniors and their friends can be cared for in a supportive

environment that celebrates their life experience. A full-time licensed

nurse and 24-hour professional care staff cater to residents’ needs so

they can enjoy resort-style living to the fullest, with the dignity and

respect that everyone deserves.

To inquire about availability and a tour of the community’s apartments,

grounds, and public areas, please visit stonewallgardens.com or call

760-548-0970.

Telly Award winners were selected from nearly 12,000 entries from all 50

states and five continents. Less than 10% of all entries were chosen as winners

of the Silver Telly. The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier

award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and

programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials,

video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected

advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable

operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa

Presents the

Coppola Wine Dinner

on July 18

The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa

continues its Interactive Summer Wine Dinner

Series on Saturday, July 18 with the awardwinning

winery Francis Ford Coppola. The

featured chef preparing the dinner is Chef de

Cuisine Juan Leon, presenting five delectable

courses.

As an interactive series, the chef presents his creations describing

how he determined the flavor and pairing combinations. A select

number of attendees have the opportunity to cook in the kitchen

with Chef Leon earlier in the afternoon prior to the dinner. There are

a limited number of attendees for this portion of the dinner, which is

available on a first come first serve reservation.

Hollywood great Francis Ford Coppola is about as passionate for

great wines as he is for great film, and throughout the dinner the

winery representative will provide a synopsis of each of the wines

and how they are created. Coppola purchased his first winery in

1975, the Inglenook Winery in California’s Napa Valley. Notably, Coppola

made a special series of Sonoma wines, which he called Director’s

Cut. Every bottle of Director’s Cut pays homage to the history

of filmmaking with its wraparound label designed after a Zoetrope

strip, one of the earliest moving picture devices. Each Director’s Cut

label is a replica of a strip from Francis’s personal collection.

The final dinner in this Interactive Summer Wine Dinner Series

will showcase Rodney Strong Vineyards on Saturday, August 29, at

7:30 p.m. featuring Executive Chef Joel Delmond, assisted by Chef

Juan Leon and Chef Antwon Brinson. Over 50 years ago celebrated

American dancer, Rod Strong, settled in Sonoma County to pursue a

lifelong creative passion: winemaking. Rodney Strong Vineyards was

the 13th winery bonded in the newly discovered Sonoma County

wine industry. Through the years, Rodney Strong Vineyards has

earned the reputation for critically acclaimed Single Vineyard and

Reserve wines, stand out Estate releases and best-in-class Sonoma

County varietal wines. Today, Rodney Strong Vineyards continues

its history of innovation as one of California’s most respected wineries,

crafting delicious Sonoma County wines that reflect passion and

creativity.

Each dinner takes place at 7:30 p.m. and costs $85 plus tax and gratuity,

per person, with limited seating. Reservations are required by

The annual event drew a crowd of approximately 600 leading architects,

honored for their contributions to exceptional design in L.A. County and

beyond.

“It is extremely rewarding to receive recognition by this esteemed

organization for the restoration of this classic midcentury structure,

which the museum envisioned and planned for several years,” said

Elizabeth Armstrong, the JoAnn McGrath Executive Director of Palm

Glass Center

Through Friday, July 31

Denney Western American Art Wing,

Palm Springs Art Museum

This exhibition presents a wide variety of glass

sculptures and techniques ranging from casting

to glass blowing and other creative methods. In

content and meaning, diverse styles and subjects

range from the narrative and figurative to the

natural world and the exploration of color in space.

The installation brings together works by renowned

international artists who have contributed to the

development of contemporary glass art in major centers

throughout the world. View unique aesthetic properties in

figurative works by artists Micaela Amateau Amato, Karen

LaMonte, and Seth Randal. Study sizeable sculptures by

Howard Ben Tré, Daniel Clayman, and Bertil Vallien. Masters

of the mold-making and casting processes include Vladimira

Klumpar and Ivana Šrámková. Other artists shape and fuse

their works by the heat of a kiln. Matthew Curtis and Lino

Tagliapietra apply cold-working techniques to their handblown

glass forms. Dale Chihuly, Benjamin Moore, and

William Morris are among the world’s leading glass blowers.

Other artists like Larry Bell and Therman Statom merge

formal investigations of color, space, and light with social and

cultural commentary.

Art works are drawn from the museum’s permanent

collection and on loan from artists and private collectors.

This exhibition is organized by the Palm Springs Art Museum

and is funded in part by Rebecca Benaroya.

Center, and back-to-back nights at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. The North

American dates – which also include top billing at the New Orleans Jazz &

Heritage Festival, Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Rock in Rio USA in Las

Vegas, and Summerfest in Milwaukee - are part of Sheeran’s highly successful

worldwide tour which culminates

with three sold out nights at

London’s Wembley Stadium.

Sheeran is still riding high with

the chart-topping success of his

current single “Thinking Out

Loud.” Already one of the biggest

songs of 2015, “Thinking Out

Loud” has earned Sheeran the

highest charting of his career

at multiple formats, going to

#1 at Top 40, Hot AC, and Adult

radio, as well as holding the #2

spot on the Billboard Hot 100

for a staggering eight consecutive weeks. “Thinking Out

Loud” has also enjoyed global success, having gone to

#1 in 9 countries around the world, including his native

United Kingdom, while the beautifully-shot companion

music video (http://youtu.be/lp-EO5I60KA) – directed by

longtime collaborator Emil Nava – has already amassed

over 368 million views worldwide. “Thinking Out Loud” is the third single from

Sheeran’s RIAA-certified platinum album “x” (pronounced multiply), which

recently won “Best British Album” at the 2015 BRIT Awards and was nominated

for “Album Of The Year” at the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Recently, Sheeran unveiled the companion music video for the song

“Bloodstream” (https://youtu.be/Orq_75kFi8I) - a collaboration with fellow BRIT

Award winner and Atlantic labelmate Rudimental, who are currently finishing

their second studio album. The cinematic video –directed by Nava and starring

acclaimed actor Ray Liotta – was filmed exclusively for this year’s YouTube

Music Awards (in association with Vice), which celebrates acts with the biggest

growth in views, subscriptions and/or interactions with fans over the last six

months. Sheeran recently performed the original version of “Bloodstream” -

which appears on his album “x” – at the 2015 BRIT Awards.

Blending soulful vocals with organic folk introspection and irresistible hip-hop

hooks, Ed Sheeran is a genuine global phenomenon. The 24-year-old British

singer-songwriter’s acclaimed second full length album “x” (pronounced

multiply) went to #1 on the album charts in 14 countries around the world,

and has since achieved platinum sales in 18 countries, including the Unitied

States and his native United Kingdom, where it was the biggest selling album

of 2014. With worldwide sales exceeding 7 million, “x” is highlighted by a trio

of smash singles – “Sing,” “Don’t,” and his biggest hit to date “Thinking Out

Loud.” Recently, Sheeran received one of the biggest ovations of the night for

Ed Sheeran is a 6-x GRAMMY nominated,

multiplatinum singer/songwriter. At only 23 years

old, the British artist has already become a global

phenomenon. His latest album “x” (pronounced

multiply) has gone to #1 in 14 countries around the

world, including the United States and his native

United Kingdom, where it was both the biggest

and fastest selling album of 2014. “x” – which is

currently nominated for Album of the Year at the

upcoming 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards - features

back-to-back platinum hits “Sing” and “Don’t” as

well as the current single “Thinking Out Loud,”

which is shaping up to be the biggest of Sheeran’s

already stellar career. An acclaimed live performer,

Sheeran has played countless sold out shows all

over the globe, including a 3-night stand at New

York City’s Madison Square Garden and 4 nights

at London’s O2 Arena. This summer will see him

perform biggest headlining shows to date - 3 sold

out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.

his performance of “Thinking Out Loud” at the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards,

where he was joined onstage by GRAMMY winners Herbie Hancock, John

Mayer, and Questlove, performed with Jeff Lynne’s ELO, and was nominated for

3 awards, including the prestigious “Album of the Year” for “x.” The following

week, Sheeran was the only artist among the star-studded lineup to perform

twice on CBS’ “Stevie Wonder: Songs In The Key Of Life – An All-Star GRAMMY

Salute” – the jaw-dropping, show opener with Beyonce and Gary Clark Jr. as

well as a ground-breaking solo performance, both of which earned standing

ovations. That same month saw Sheeran take home the awards for “Best British

Album” and “Best British Male” at the 2015 BRIT Awards.

“x” finds the 6x-GRAMMY nominee collaborating with a stellar list of producers,

including multiple GRAMMY Award®-winners Pharrell Williams, Rick Rubin and

Jeff Bhasker, multiple GRAMMY Award®-nominee Benny Blanco, Snow Patrol’s

Johnny McDaid, and BRIT-Award nominee and longtime collaborator Jake

Gosling. “x” The album has earned Sheeran a remarkable amount of rapturous

press attention, including cover stories in Billboard and Parade, and the New

York Times’ Sunday Arts & Leisure section as well as major feature profiles in

Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, and Time. Sheeran launched “x” with a

breakout performance on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” followed by other high

profile national television appearances including “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,”

the famed outdoor stage on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, and NBC’s “The

Voice” season finale, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and Toyota

Summer Concert Series in Rockefeller Plaza on “Today.” Moreover, “x” has

drawn critical applause from all corners, with USA Today hailing it in a fourand-a-half-starred

rave as “the rare album that satisfies expectations while

simultaneously raising them… As good as Sheeran was before, he’s even better

now.” “Mr. Sheeran is a gifted singer with a tender tone and a naturalistic way

with storytelling,” declared the New York Times, adding, “Though he may well

be the most prominent folk-minded singer in contemporary pop, he’s an openeared

experimenter at core, and saddled with none of the modesty, false or

otherwise, that typically go with the folkie role.” “(Sheeran) is a polyglot,” noted

Time, “raised on folk, R&B, hip-hop and rock in equal measure and comfortable

incorporating each of those genres into his compositions.”

Sheeran’s 2012 breakthrough debut album, “+,” entered the UK Albums Chart

at #1 with the highest opening sales figures for a debut male solo artist ever

and is now certified 6x-platinum. Fueled by international hit singles like “The

A Team” and “Lego House,” “+” has enjoyed multi-platinum, platinum, and

gold sales in nine countries around the world. Here in the US, “The A Team”

proved a blockbuster, earning 2x-platinum certification from the RIAA as well

as a GRAMMY® Award nomination as “Song Of The Year.” Sheeran also made

a record-breaking chart debut with the stateside release of “+,” which entered

the SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #5, becoming the highest debut for a U.K. solo

artist’s first full-length album, since 2009. Along with his three GRAMMY® nods

– including the prestigious “Best New Artist” – Sheeran has accrued an array

of distinguished international honors, spanning two BRIT Awards (“Best Male

Artist,” “Best Breakthrough Artist”) and the 2012 Ivor Novello Award for “Best

Song Musically and Lyrically.”

Long acclaimed as a captivating and creative live performer, Sheeran spent

much of the past two years traversing North America on back-to-back sold-out

headline tours, the latter of which including a stop at the renowned Radio City

Music Hall that sold out in a matter of minutes. Following a main support role

on Taylor Swift’s massively successful “RED Tour,” Sheeran returned to New

York City for a trio of sold-out headline shows at the legendary Madison Square

Garden to close out his incredible 2013.

Sheeran’s honest songwriting and incredible live show also connected with

millions through the small screen with countless high profile television

appearances including the 55th Annual GRAMMY® Awards (performing “The

A Team” accompanied by Sir Elton John), the closing ceremonies of the 2012

Summer Olympics in London, and as the youngest performer among the starstudded

lineup on CBS’ special “The Beatles: The Night That Changed America

– A GRAMMY® Salute.”

“Rich Little Live” – Limited Time Only

Renowned impersonator and comedian Rich Little brings to life

Born in Canada, Rich Little got his start just

like almost every other comic of his time -

night clubs. he was a very popular comic in

these clubs, but if there was one thing Rich

It’s All About

Cirque du Soleil

was best known for, it was impersonations.

He studied the voices of many stars his

whole life, stars like James Stewart, Johnny

Carson, Don Rickles, Dean Martin, Truman

Capote and George Burns. In the late 1960s,

Rich was dubbed “the best impressionist in

the world.” During the 1970s, however, a

rivalry began between him and fellow impressionist

Frank Gorshin, who is five years

older. Ultimately, Rich overpowered Gorshin

and remained the best impressionist in the

world. In 1973 Rich became more associated

with Dean Martin and made countless

appearances on the “Dean Martin Celebrity

Roasts,” honoring most of the people he

impersonated.

Besides impressions, Rich also had a successful

career as a narrator in many stories,

made many appearances in TV series, and

hosted many TV shows. He also made his

first movie, as Otterlake in The Other Side of

the Wind in 1972. His acting career wasn’t

as successful as his impressions, but he did

have a great talent. After the 1980s, Rich

calmed down and moved away from the

limelight.

In 1998, Rich took a look back at his most

remembered moments of his career: his appearances

on the “Dean Martin Roasts,” in

an infomercial to promote the Roast videos.

Rich says he will ALWAYS remember those

moments.

THE HIGH ROLLER: THE

WORLD’S TALLEST

OBSERVATION WHEEL

Shining bright on the Las Vegas

Strip, the 550-foot-tall High

Roller is a true standout at The

LINQ’s outdoor shopping, dining

and entertainment promenade.

Measuring 520 feet in diameter,

the High Roller eclipses

both the London Eye and Singapore

Flyer. Facing north and

south (parallel to Las Vegas

Boulevard), the wheel takes

30 minutes to complete one

full revolution and features

28 glass-enclosed cabins with

broad views of the famed resort

city. Each spherical cabin

can hold up to 40 people.

There are benches on either

side of the cabin, with plenty

of floor space in between.

But we imagine you’ll want to

stand against the window and

admire the view.

Tickets are $26.95 during the

day, $36.95 at night. You can

fly solo or rent out an entire

cabin for the ultimate bachelor,

bachelorette or wedding

party. Or, reserve bigger events

at the High Roller’s wheelhouse.

Stop by the gift shop at

the base of the wheel and pick

up a fun souvenir.

YORK CITY

39

NEW YORK, June 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Knot, the #1 multiplatform

wedding resource, is releasing its third annual LGBTQ Weddings

Study and The Knot LGBTQ Edition digital magazine. The LGBTQ Weddings

Study surveyed more than 1,200 LGBTQ singles or couples who

were recently married or engaged and planning a wedding to uncover

spending habits, trends and traditions that couples are embracing or

adapting to bring their wedding vision to life. The issue is available now

on TheKnot.com, and a 10-page insert of the edition is printed in The

Knot Summer 2015 weddings magazine.

“Since our inception in 1996, The Knot has had a rich history of supporting

love and marriage for all,” said Mike Steib, CEO of XO Group

Inc., parent company of The Knot. “Starting with The Knot Millennial

Couple, Kimberly Acquaviva and Kimberly McGannon, to hosting a

pop-up chapel in Central Park to celebrate New York’s passage of the

2011 Marriage Equality Act, we’ve always believed in helping all couples

plan their wedding--no matter who they are, or who they love.”

The Knot LGBTQ Wedding Study has revealed that 95% of couples

surveyed refer to this occasion as a wedding, as opposed to a commitment

ceremony or civil union, up from 82% in 2014. Additionally,

96% of couples do not think of their wedding as a “same-sex wedding”

but a wedding. Of the people surveyed, 70% said they are walking

down the aisle; men are nearly three times more likely to walk down

the aisle together, whereas women prefer a friend or family member

escort. Half of couples have a friend or family member officiate their

wedding ceremony, and the most popular reception venue choices are

restaurants, friends’ or family members’ homes, and historic buildings.

The featured celebrities on the cover of The Knot LGBTQ Edition, Lance

Bass and husband Michael Turchin, exemplify a personalized wedding

and many of the trends revealed in The Knot LGBTQ Weddings Study.

The magazine allows an all-access, VIP, backstage pass to the wedding

of the former *NSYNC member. “It was a gorgeous view of all our favorite

people in the world,” says Lance about his wedding. The magazine

also includes planning and etiquette advice, style inspiration and

sweet love stories from real couples, along with real wedding images

and inspiration.

“As we celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize marriage

equality for the entire country, our study shows that LGBTQ couples

are hosting intimate weddings, with a focus on the guest experience

and lots of personalized details,” said Anja Winikka, site director of The

Knot. “Best of all, 91% of men and 95% of women respondents say that

‘my wedding day was the best day of my life so far.’”

Key Findings from The Knot 2015 LGBTQ Weddings Study:

Trends:

•Of the LGBTQ couples surveyed, 96% don’t consider their marriage a

“same-sex marriage”—they consider it a marriage

• 95% of couples refer to this occasion as a wedding, as opposed to a

commitment ceremony or civil union, up from 82% in 2014

• 60% of couples agree that guests could use advice and services when

navigating LGBTQ wedding etiquette

• 95% of couples agree that vendors need a way to communicate that

they’re LGBTQ friendly, and 81% of couples look to vendor reviews when

seeking LGBTQ-friendly wedding vendors

• The most popular reception venues include restaurants (13% for men,

16% for women), family or friends’ homes (13% for men, 12% for women),

and historic buildings or homes (11% for men, 8% for women)

Traditions:

• 57% of men and 69% of women had a formal proposal, and for 71% of

those couples, it was a surprise

•56% of men and 76% of women exchanged rings with their engagement;

36% of men and 56% of women at the time of their proposal, while 20%

of couples purchased them after the proposal

• 97% of couples exchange wedding bands at the ceremony 70% of

couples walk down the aisle; men are nearly three times as likely to walk

down the aisle together, while women prefer a family or friend escort

Spending Habits:

• LGBTQ weddings are small, intimate affairs—men have an average of 77

guests and women have an average of 71 guests; 9 in 10 LGBTQ weddings

have less than 150 guests

• Men spend an average of $15,992 on their weddings, compared with

$13,055 for women; 23% of men and 21% of women spend more than

$20,000

• 85% of men and 79% of women pay for the majority of the wedding

themselves

Supreme Court of the United States:

• 100% percent of couples are excited that the issue of marriage equality

has been brought to the Supreme Court

• 97% of couples believed that the Supreme Court vote will pass and

marriage equality will be nationally recognized once and for all

World-Premiere Musical

COME FROM AWAY

EXTENDED AGAIN! Must close July 12, 2015

Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre

Book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein

Directed by Christopher Ashley

Co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre

WELCOME, WORLD.

Come from Away is an original, rock-inspired world-premiere musical based on the true story

of when the isolated town of Gander, Newfoundland played host to the world. What started

as an average day in a small town turned in to an international sleepover when 38 planes

were diverted to Gander on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language

barriers, the spirited town cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the

recognition that we’re all part of a global family. Artistic Director Christopher Ashley is the

director of the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis, now playing on London’s West End!

Early April, 2015. Palm Springs, California. Ramon and I have planned a day with a flurry

of activities, beginning with brunch at The Purple Palm.

“Michael, this place is so beautiful! It takes me back to the 1930’s. The Spanish Colonial

architecture is very impressive and the restaurant is so nice by the pool.” “I’m so glad

you like it here Ramon.”

Our brunch is delightful. We top it off with a creamy chocolate caramel torte.

“Oh my Gosh! This is so very delicious, Ramon!”

He spoon feeds me the chocolate torte and hazelnut ice cream.

“Delicious indeed, Michael. Are you ready for our hike in Palm Canyon?” Ramon asks.

“Oh yeah, I need to walk off some of this sugar!”
