Lauren Green by Brittany Agee
Ms. Green grew up in Princeton, West Virginia. She graduated at Concord University in
2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art and Art Education K-12. She has taught four years at
Giles teaching Art 1 and Exploratory Art 8. Her greatest challenge is to inspire students to
believe in themselves and their artistic abilities. Ms. Green also tries to motivate students and
keep them excited and confident about their projects and the class itself.
May Teacher of the Month
Babette Martin by Marti Williams
SAE (Students Active in Education) have chosen the May teacher of the month to
be Mrs. Martin, our favorite Algebra teacher. After 24 years of teaching it is safe to say
that this honor is well deserved. Mrs. Martin has devoted countless hours to helping her
students understand one of the hardest high school subjects, math. In addition to her
before school tutoring she also helps out with Prom, organizes the GHS relay for life
fundraiser, and serves as the Math Department Chair person. When asked what her
favorite part of teaching is, she told us, “I really enjoy watching the students mature and
grow into young adults from 8th graders to 12th graders. I also love the challenge
of helping students see that they are in control of their education and their future
and how Math is going to be an important part of the rest of their life!” Well said
Mrs. Martin, keep up that awesome teaching!
