MicroFinance Transparency (<strong>MFTransparency</strong>) is a dynamic and influential non-profit <strong>org</strong>anization that<br />

promotes transparent pricing in the global microfinance industry. We are the venue for the<br />

microfinance industry to publicly demonstrate its commitment to pricing transparency, integrity and<br />

poverty alleviation. Our vision is an industry operating with healthy free market conditions where<br />

consumers and other stakeholders can make informed decisions.<br />

About the <strong>Job</strong>:<br />

The <strong>Analyst</strong> is responsible for conducting various research and analysis activities on microcredit pricing<br />

data collected during country-specific projects and working with partner <strong>org</strong>anization analysts to ensure<br />

quality of data. He/she will also contribute to the development and dissemination of analytical and<br />

educational materials. This is a 6 month contract position with potential for extension. Specific tasks and<br />

responsibilities are outlined below.<br />

Tasks/Responsibilities:<br />

1. Data Research and Analysis:<br />

Assist in the coordination of Transparent Pricing Initiatives<br />

Assist in data collection activities from microfinance institutions<br />

Assist in the data verification and cleaning of pricing data<br />

Carry out pricing calculations and analysis of pricing data using MS Excel<br />

Set up and maintain administrative systems for the data collection<br />

Prepare data for publication on the <strong>MFTransparency</strong> website<br />

Provide support the testing and development of <strong>MFTransparency</strong> tools and processes<br />

Conduct country market research and create reports on the microfinance industry<br />

2. Education and Training:<br />

Provide support in the supervision and training of partners in data activities<br />

Assist with the development of analytical reports based on pricing data<br />

Assist with the development of educational materials aimed at industry stakeholders<br />

Contribute web content and update WordPress website when required<br />

3. Support special projects as assigned by <strong>MFTransparency</strong> Senior Staff.<br />

Skills/qualifications/experience:<br />

Experience working in the microfinance industry or experience of studying the microfinance<br />

sector in an academic setting plus experience working in data management and analysis<br />

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree preferably in economics, business, international development<br />

or related field; Master’s degree in related subject or 2-4 years work experience preferred but<br />

not required


Strong analytical and computer skills<br />

Strong communication and writing skills<br />

Excellent <strong>org</strong>anizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks<br />

Self-initiative, self-motivated and resourceful in completing projects in a timely manner<br />

Ability to work effectively in teams and independently, experience working with a remote team<br />

preferred<br />

High proficiency with Microsoft office applications, especially Excel<br />

Fluency in English required, also prefer candidate fluent in Spanish<br />

Terms of Contract<br />

This is a 6 month full-time contract position operating in a virtual office, with likelihood of additional<br />

contracts. Must provide own IT equipment and have access to fast internet connection.<br />
