4:30 PM Announcement of Winners Theatre

1. Find your team number and set up your venture booth in Room 401 by 7:45 a.m.

2. Participate in the “Event Kick – Off / Welcome” in the Theatre at 8:00 a.m.

3. All “Elevator Pitch” presenters line up in the order of team number at 8:30 a.m.

a. Each team can only have one presenter.

b. DO NOT adjust the microphone stand. Instead remove the microphone from the stand.

4. Present your “Elevator Pitch” in assigned order – each team has 60 seconds to present… watch the

timekeeper!

5. At 10:00 a.m., return to your booth in Room 401. Look for judges and persuade them to invest in your venture.

DO NOT COLLECT THE MONEY AT YOUR BOOTH. SEND JUDGES TO THE IEI BANK TO INVEST THEIR MONEY.

6. Have lunch in at Noon

7. Attend “Announcement of Finalists” at 1:00 p.m. in Room 401

a. If you are a top 20 finalist, go to your assigned room and get ready to make your presentation. Make sure your

PPT slides are loaded by 1:20 p.m. Otherwise, we will choose another team from waiting list.

8. At 4:30 p.m., attend the announcement of winners in the Theatre

Important Note

– Executive Summary/Business Plan Submission

• The deadline to submit your executive summary and business

plan is April 16, 2013 at 5 PM.

• The business plans will be judged. Only qualifying teams will

advance to the Venture Creation Challenge Competition on

April 27.

– Venture Creation Challenge Competition

• Morning Competition: All teams will present an Elevator Pitch

and compete in the EXPO

• Afternoon Competition: Only qualifying teams will advance to

the Finals.

However, all teams should be prepared to present their

business plan in the form of a PowerPoint Presentation.

• The dress code for the day of the competition is business

formal.

Students are responsible for their own parking arrangements

on campus.


Booth Set Up Instructions

• 7:00-7:45 AM

– Set up venture table/booth in Room 401

– Each team will have an assigned display table (or space) at which it may setup

to provide venture materials for judges to review. The table is about a 2.5-

foot by 5-foot rectangular table. The table does not have skirting or backdrop

behind the booth. You may add them if you wish.

Student teams can set up tables and booth from 7:00 a.m. on April 27.

Students will get name tags and instructions at the assigned table with team

numbers in Room 401 at the Student Union.

– Electrical access will be available but close access cannot be guaranteed, so if

you need electrical access, please bring an extension cord. All special items

and equipment should be prepared by the team. The Regnier Institute will not

be able to accommodate any special requests.

Elevator Pitch Instructions

• 8:00 AM

– Participate in the “Event Kick – Off / Welcome” in the Theatre

• 8:30 AM

– Each qualifying team will have 60 seconds to present its “Elevator Pitch” to

the EXPO judges prior to the start of the judging process. The elevator pitches

will be held “back-to-back” on the stage of student union theatre.

– The “Elevator Pitch” must be delivered verbally by one team member. No

slides will be allowed.

– All presenters will be lined up by team number at the beginning of the

“Elevator Pitch”.


Instructions for Venture EXPO

• 10:00 AM

– It is the team’s challenge to attract judges and win their investment.

• Teams are allowed to hand out information (flyers, business cards, pens, etc…) and bring

additional people to present at their booth (i.e., customers to talk about their experiences).

• Teams are NOT allowed to distribute their copies of business plans to judges.

– Each judge has $10,000 of “IEI Money” to invest in student ventures

• “Investments” in teams must be in $1,000 increments.

• At the end of the Venture EXPO, investments will be added up / totaled for each team.

• NOON

– Eat lunch (4 th Floor Foyer)


Announcement of Finalists

• 1:00 PM

– Attend “Announcement of Finalists” in Room 401

– If you are a top 20 finalist, go to your assigned room and get ready to make

your presentation. Make sure your PPT slides are loaded by 1:20 p.m.

Otherwise, we will choose another team from waiting list.

– If you are not a top 20 finalist, attend the finalist presentations as a spectator.


Instructions for Finalists

• 1:00 PM

– 20 teams will be invited to make Finalist Presentations to the finalist judging

panel. They will be assigned to 5 rooms with 4 teams per room.

– Make sure your PPT slides are loaded by 1:20 p.m. Otherwise, we will choose

another team from the waiting list.

– Each team will have 30 minutes for the presentation and Q&A. The proctor

will make sure that each team gets 5 minutes to present without being

interrupted. After the presentations are over, judges will rank the teams (#1,

#2, #3, and #4 with #1 being the best)

– The presenting team is responsible for checking any special technology

requirement before the beginning of the afternoon competition.

• 4:30 PM

– Attend the announcement of winners in the Theatre


Announcement of Winners

• 4:30 PM

– The teams going to the finalist presentations in the afternoon will win one of

the four finalist awards.

– Teams must be present to win.
