1.3. The Power Supply<br />

A DC Terminal is eqipped to connect to a 12V<br />

power source.<br />

Rechargeable Battery<br />

• In addition to the DC power source,<br />

there is a rechargeable battery inside<br />

the <strong>UniAlert</strong> that <strong>se</strong>rves as a back up<br />

in ca<strong>se</strong> of power failure.<br />

• The battery u<strong>se</strong>d is a 4.8V 600mAH<br />

Ni-mH rechargeable battery pack.<br />

• During normal operation, the DC<br />

power source is u<strong>se</strong>d to supply power<br />

to the <strong>UniAlert</strong> and at the same time<br />

recharge the battery.<br />

• When the battery is fully charged, it<br />

can provide back-up power for a<br />

period of at least 6 hours. It takes<br />

approximately 48 hours to fully charge<br />

the battery.<br />

1.4. Input/Output & DC<br />

Terminals<br />

Connect the DC power and wired devices to<br />

the input/output contact points as shown below.<br />

the circuit is short.<br />

• The system enters Disarm mode<br />

when the circuit is open.<br />

Exit Timer is ineffective if the system<br />

is armed via this device. That is, the<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong> enters Arm mode immediately<br />

when the circuit is short.<br />

Pins 9 & 10 Alarm Output (N.O.)<br />

• When an alarm is triggered, the device<br />

connected to Alarm Output will change<br />

the status from open to short (activate),<br />

until Alarm Length time is expired or when<br />

the <strong>UniAlert</strong> is disarmed. Then the status<br />

will change from short to open (deactivate)<br />

again.<br />

<br />

Alarm Output will not respond if Alarm<br />

Length is <strong>se</strong>t as 00 (disable).<br />

Pins 1 & 2 DC 12V Power Input<br />

• Connect a DC 12V power source to the<br />

Power Input Terminal.<br />

Pins 3 & 4 Alarm Input (N.C.)<br />

• When a wired <strong>se</strong>nsor/device is connected<br />

to the Alarm Input Terminal, the alarm will<br />

be triggered and a report will be <strong>se</strong>nt to<br />

the Central Monitoring Station when either<br />

the built-in PIR detector or this wired<br />

<strong>se</strong>nsor is triggered.<br />

1.5. How to install the <strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

Locating a suitable position for the<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

• The <strong>UniAlert</strong> requires DC power and a<br />

constant <strong>GSM</strong> reception.<br />

• The <strong>UniAlert</strong> should be easily accessible,<br />

• The <strong>UniAlert</strong> should not be placed in a<br />

damp place, such as a bathroom.<br />

• The <strong>UniAlert</strong> should not be placed clo<strong>se</strong><br />

to any heat source, such as microwave<br />

ovens, which can reduce signal srength.<br />

• The <strong>UniAlert</strong> should not be located<br />

alongside other radio transmitting devices<br />

such as mobile phones, cordless phone or<br />

wireless computer network (WiFi) devices.<br />

Impontant: When drilling into a wall, ensure<br />

that there are no hidden cables or pipes.<br />

Mounting the <strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

The <strong>UniAlert</strong> is to be mounted on the wall. It is<br />

recommended to install the <strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

approximately 1.8 meters above ground level<br />

(top edge). The detection range is 10 meters at<br />

90° angle.<br />

In order to provide highest <strong>se</strong>curity in operating<br />

the system, <strong>UniAlert</strong> offers 2 levels of<br />

authorization. To program the system, you<br />

must enter Master Code.<br />

PIN Code<br />

• There are a total of 4 U<strong>se</strong>r PIN codes in<br />

the system. The PIN code is the 1st level<br />

of password.<br />

• U<strong>se</strong>r 1 PIN code cannot be deleted in<br />

any way.<br />

• 1234 is <strong>se</strong>t as default U<strong>se</strong>r 1 PIN code by<br />

the factory.<br />

• U<strong>se</strong>r 2 to 4 PIN codes are deactivated by<br />

factory default.<br />

<br />

U<strong>se</strong>r PIN codes may not be identical.<br />

If you <strong>se</strong>t the same number, the unit<br />

will emit 4 short beeps to alert the u<strong>se</strong>r.<br />

Master Code<br />

• The Master Code has the authorization to<br />

enter Programming mode and cannot be<br />

deleted in anyway.<br />

• 1111 is <strong>se</strong>t as default Master Code by the<br />

factory.<br />

<br />

Master Code and U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code may<br />

be the same.<br />

• Using the 2 holes of the wall mounting<br />

bracket as a template, mark off the holes’<br />

positions.<br />

• Drill 2 holes and in<strong>se</strong>rt the wall plugs if<br />

fixing into plaster or brick.<br />

• Hook the <strong>UniAlert</strong> onto the wall mounting<br />

bracket.<br />

1.6. Two-Level Passwords<br />

1.7. Getting Started<br />

Step 1. Find a suitable location for the<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong> to be installed.<br />

Step 2. Apply power, and you will hear 2<br />

beeps. Plea<strong>se</strong> wait for approximately<br />

2 minutes for the system to <strong>se</strong>arch for<br />

a <strong>GSM</strong> reception; the Green LED<br />

flashes.<br />

Step 3. Wait for about a minute. When a <strong>GSM</strong><br />

reception is found, the Green LED<br />

becomes steadily on and the <strong>GSM</strong><br />

LED is flashes slowly (300ms On /<br />

3.0s Off). The system is now in<br />

Disarm mode.<br />

<br />

If after a few minutes, the Green LED<br />

(1s On / 1s Off) and the <strong>GSM</strong> LED<br />

(500ms On / 500ms Off) are still<br />

flashing, it means <strong>GSM</strong> activation has<br />

failed. Plea<strong>se</strong> check if the SIM card is<br />

properly in<strong>se</strong>rted and <strong>GSM</strong> reception<br />

is available.<br />

2. Configuring Your


System<br />

2.1. Entering Programming<br />

Mode<br />

When the system is in Disarm mode, to enter<br />

the Programming mode, follow the steps below.<br />

Step 1. Enter the Master Code (1111 is <strong>se</strong>t as<br />

factory default).<br />

Step 2. Press the<br />

<br />

Disarm key twice.<br />

The <strong>se</strong>cond Disarm key must be<br />

pres<strong>se</strong>d within 0.5 <strong>se</strong>cond.<br />

Step 3. When successfully entered<br />

Programming mode, the Green & Red<br />

LED will flash alternately.<br />

Step 4. Start by pressing the Disarm key,<br />

followed by the programming<br />

command then the new <strong>se</strong>tting, and<br />

end with the Disarm key (plea<strong>se</strong><br />

refer to <strong>se</strong>ction 3.8 Programmig<br />

Command Table for more details).<br />

<br />

To change Master Code to 2222, enter:<br />

“ 102222 ”<br />

Where:<br />

10 = Command to <strong>se</strong>t Master Code<br />

2222 = new Master Code<br />

Step 5. 2 beeps will be heard to confirm the<br />

new <strong>se</strong>tting is accepted and stored.<br />

On the other hand, 4 beeps will be<br />

heard to indicate the new <strong>se</strong>tting is<br />

errounous or unacceptable.<br />

After Master code is programmed with<br />

new a number, plea<strong>se</strong> be reminded to<br />

enter the new number when<br />

accessing Programming mode<br />

afterwards.<br />

In Programming mode, press the<br />

Arm key at any time to abort.<br />

In Programming mode, if no key is<br />

pres<strong>se</strong>d within 3 minutes, the <strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

will automatically exit Programming<br />

mode to Disarm mode.<br />

If reporting or SMS remote<br />

programming is in progress, then 8<br />

beeps will be heard to alert the u<strong>se</strong>r<br />

that entering Programming mode is<br />

prohibited at the moment.<br />

2.2. Telephone Settings<br />

• This allows you to <strong>se</strong>t/change/delete the<br />

Central Monitoring Station or mobile<br />

telephone numbers for reporting purpo<strong>se</strong>.<br />

• A maximum of four numbers can be stored<br />

in priority order (in the order of 1, 2, 3, then<br />

4).<br />

<br />

At least one phone number must be<br />

entered, or the <strong>UniAlert</strong> will not dial out<br />

at alarm situations.<br />

Store/Change Tel. Numbers<br />

U<strong>se</strong> command 31 for Tel. Number 1, command<br />

32 for Tel. Number 2, and so on up to<br />

command 34 for Tel Number 4. The maximum<br />

length of a number is 20 digits.<br />

• To <strong>se</strong>nd SMS text message to u<strong>se</strong>r’s<br />

mobile phone, usage as below:<br />

have higher dialing priority than Tel<br />

numbers that are <strong>se</strong>t as 0 (SMS Text<br />

Message).<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong> will dial the Tel Numbers for<br />

SMS Text Message after the Tel<br />

Numbers for SCID are finished.<br />

The reach number of SCID report is<br />

defined by Programming command 39.<br />

Delete Tel. Numbers<br />

To delete a telephone number, enter the<br />

respective command (e.g. 31 for Tel. Number<br />

1, 32 for Tel. Number 2) with null <strong>se</strong>tting.<br />

<br />

To delete Tel. Number 1, enter:<br />

“ 31 ”<br />

Set SCID Reach Number<br />

This is for you to <strong>se</strong>t how many Central Station<br />

Receivers should the <strong>UniAlert</strong>’s SCID reporting.<br />

Options available are One of TEL1-4 and All<br />

of TEL1-4.<br />

If you choo<strong>se</strong> One of TEL1-4, the <strong>UniAlert</strong> will<br />

try to dial the first SCID Tel number. If it failed,<br />

the <strong>UniAlert</strong> will try the next SCID Tel number.<br />

As long as one SCID Tel number is<br />

successfully reported, then the job is done.<br />

If you choo<strong>se</strong> All of TEL1-4, the <strong>UniAlert</strong> will<br />

need to successfully report to all of the SCID<br />

Tel numbers.<br />

U<strong>se</strong> command 39 with option 0 for One of<br />

TEL1-4 (if <strong>se</strong>t as SCID), and option 1 for All of<br />

TEL1-4 (if <strong>se</strong>t as SCID). Usage as below:<br />

2.3. PIN Code<br />

• There are 4 U<strong>se</strong>r PIN codes in total, and<br />

each consists of 4 digits. U<strong>se</strong>r 1 PIN code<br />

is activated as 1234 by factory default and<br />

cannot be deleted in any way.<br />

• U<strong>se</strong>r 2 to 4 PIN codes are deactivated by<br />

factory default.<br />

• All 4 U<strong>se</strong>r PIN codes are u<strong>se</strong>d to regularly<br />

arm/disarm the system.<br />

To Set/Change Own U<strong>se</strong>r PIN Code<br />

PIN codes can be re<strong>se</strong>t/changed by using the<br />

commands 11 to 14 to change the respective<br />

U<strong>se</strong>r PIN codes #1-4. Usage as below:<br />

SMS to notify the Central Monitoring<br />

Station, or SMS Text Message to<br />

u<strong>se</strong>r’s mobile phone (according to the<br />

Tel. <strong>se</strong>tting).<br />

Latch Reprot OFF = Whenever the<br />

system is armed or disarmed, the<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong> will NOT <strong>se</strong>nd reporting(s) to<br />

notify the Central Monitoring Station<br />

nor the u<strong>se</strong>r.<br />

To Delete U<strong>se</strong>r PIN Code<br />

Except U<strong>se</strong>r 1 PIN code which is activated by<br />

factory default and can’t be deleted in any way,<br />

U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code 2, 3 and 4 can be deleted by<br />

enter the respective command (e.g. 12 for U<strong>se</strong>r<br />

2 PIN code, 13 for Tel. Number 2) with null<br />

<strong>se</strong>tting.<br />

To delete U<strong>se</strong>r 2 PIN code, enter:<br />

“ 12 ”<br />

2.4. Master Code<br />

• Master Code is u<strong>se</strong>d for accessing the<br />

Programming mode and it is <strong>se</strong>t as 1111 by<br />

factory default.<br />

• The Master code can not be deleted in<br />

anyway (same as the U<strong>se</strong>r 1 PIN code).<br />

• The Master Code is u<strong>se</strong>d to enter<br />

Programming mode only. In other ca<strong>se</strong>s,<br />

only U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code should be entered.<br />

• U<strong>se</strong> command 10 to <strong>se</strong>t/change own<br />

Master Code. Usage as below:<br />

2.5. Entry Time<br />

The system goes into counting down period<br />

(away entry timer) when the PIR is triggered<br />

under Arm mode.<br />

During the counting down period, it is allowed<br />

to u<strong>se</strong> correct PIN code to disarm the alarm<br />

and the alarm reporting will not be <strong>se</strong>nt. On the<br />

other hand, if the correct PIN code has not<br />

been entered within the period, <strong>UniAlert</strong> rai<strong>se</strong>s<br />

an alarm and <strong>se</strong>nds an alarm report.<br />

To <strong>se</strong>t/change Entry Timer, u<strong>se</strong> command 22<br />

with options of 00 (alarm immediately), 01 (1<br />

<strong>se</strong>c), 02 (2 <strong>se</strong>c)…up to 70 (70 <strong>se</strong>c). Usage as<br />

During the counting down period, pressing the<br />

Arm Button of the RC can restart the counting.<br />

In addition, it is allowed to u<strong>se</strong> correct PIN<br />

code or press Disarm Button of the RC to stop<br />

the counting and return to Disarm mode.<br />

To <strong>se</strong>t/change Exit Timer, u<strong>se</strong> command 23<br />

with options of 00 (alarm immediately), 01 (1<br />

<strong>se</strong>c), 02 (2 <strong>se</strong>c)…up to 70 (70 <strong>se</strong>c). Usage as<br />

Learn Bell Box (BX) / Siren (SR)<br />

Step 1. Put the desired auxiliary device into<br />

learn mode (plea<strong>se</strong> refer to its<br />

individual Operation Manual). U<strong>se</strong><br />

command 92 with option 1. Usage as<br />

when replacing BX/SR battery.<br />

command 92 with option 3. Usage as<br />

via SMS Commands


The <strong>UniAlert</strong> can also be programmed<br />

remotely via SMS commands. All programming<br />

options require SMS commands to be <strong>se</strong>nt in<br />

specific formats. All commands require a SMS<br />

Program Word (SMS P-Word, default PROG,<br />

and a SMS Keyword (default SET). Plea<strong>se</strong><br />

refer to <strong>se</strong>ction 3.8 Programmig Command<br />

Table for more details.<br />

All below instructions/examples are ba<strong>se</strong>d on<br />

factory default. U<strong>se</strong>r is to substitute own P-<br />

Word and Keyword if changed.<br />

2.10.1. SMS Program Word (P-Word)<br />

The default SMS P-Word can be changed to<br />

own word by using command 1A. A maximum<br />

of 15 characters is allowed. Usage as below:<br />

2.10.2. SMS Keyword<br />

message, a personalized password is required<br />

for <strong>UniAlert</strong> to recognize your authority.<br />

The default SMS Keyword can be changed to<br />

own word by using command 1B. A maximum<br />

of 10 characters is allowed. Usage as below:<br />

For example, if you enter your address in SMS<br />

Header, your address will be shown in SMS<br />

alarm messages; the format is (your address,<br />

Panic Alarm)<br />

For <strong>se</strong>nding a SMS alarm reporting to your<br />

mobile phone, enter your SMS Header by<br />

using command 1C. A maximum of 64<br />

characters is allowed. Usage as below:<br />

Programming Only)<br />

• U<strong>se</strong> command 93 to start Walk Test.<br />

press Disarm key once to end Walk Test.<br />

3.1. Away (Alarm On) Mode<br />

When the system is in Disarm (Alarm Off)<br />

mode, and arming the system is wished,<br />

plea<strong>se</strong> follow the steps below:<br />

Step 1. Enter a U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code (U<strong>se</strong>r 1 PIN<br />

code 1234 is <strong>se</strong>t as factory default).<br />

Step 2. Press the<br />

Arm key.<br />

Step 3. The defined EXIT Delay is counting<br />

down. During the EXIT Delay period,<br />

the exit sound plays, unless it has<br />

been cho<strong>se</strong>n to switch off.<br />

During the Exit Delay Count Down<br />

Period:<br />

• Exit Delay Sound:<br />

If it is <strong>se</strong>t as 01-70 <strong>se</strong>c, there will be<br />

a beep at every <strong>se</strong>cond, until the<br />

Count Down timer expires.<br />

If it is <strong>se</strong>t as 00 (Disable), a silent<br />

count down will be performed.<br />

• Latch Report Option:<br />

If it is <strong>se</strong>t as ON, an Arming report<br />

will be <strong>se</strong>nt to Central Monitoring<br />

Station.<br />

If it is <strong>se</strong>t as OFF, no report will be<br />

<strong>se</strong>nt.<br />

Step 4. When Exit Delay timer expires, the<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong> will perform a long beep and<br />

the system is now in Arm Mode.<br />

<br />

The system can also be armed by<br />

pressing the Arm button on the<br />

Remote Controller.<br />

Exit Timer is ineffective if the<br />

Home/Partial Arm Button of the<br />

Remote Controller (RC) is pres<strong>se</strong>d.<br />

That is, the <strong>UniAlert</strong> enters Arm mode<br />

immediately when the Home/Partial<br />

Arm Button of the RC is pres<strong>se</strong>d.<br />

The Exit Delay can be stopped by disarming<br />

the system.<br />

Step 1. Key in your U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code, followed<br />

by Disarm key.<br />

Step 2. If the U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code is correct, then<br />

the exit sound will be stopped.<br />

<br />

The Exit Delay can also be stopped by<br />

pressing the Disarm button on the<br />

Remote Controller.<br />

If the Exit Delay period times out<br />

before the code can be entered, the<br />

system will be armed.<br />

3.1.2. Extend the Exit Delay<br />

During the Exit Delay period, the delay time<br />

can be extended. Each time the delay time is<br />

extended, the timer tarts counting from the<br />

beginning.<br />

Step 1. Key in your U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code, followed<br />

by Arm key.<br />

Step 2. If the U<strong>se</strong>r PIN code is correct, you<br />

will continue to hear the exit sound.<br />

<br />

The Exit Delay can also be extended<br />

by pressing the Arm button on the<br />

Remote Controller.<br />

While you arm the system, if the<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong> is triggered (e.g. motion<br />

detected), arming is also prohibited.<br />

3.2. Disarm (Alarm Off) Mode<br />

When the system is in Arm mode, enter the<br />

U<strong>se</strong>r PIN Code and press Disarm key. If the<br />

PIN code is correct, the systeml will emit 2<br />

short beeps and return to Disarm mode.<br />

When the system is Armed, pressing<br />

the Disarm button on the Remote<br />

Controller can also disarm the system.<br />

3.4. Dual-Key Function<br />

You may manually trigger Panic, Fire, and<br />

Emergency alarms if needed.<br />

• Panic Alarm — Press & Hold 1 key + 3<br />

key at the same time for 3 <strong>se</strong>conds.<br />

• Fire Alarm — Press & Hold 4 key + 6 key<br />

at the same time for 3 <strong>se</strong>conds.<br />

• Emergency Alarm — Press & Hold 7 key +<br />

9 key at the same time for 3 <strong>se</strong>conds.<br />

To stop the<strong>se</strong> alarms, simply follow the normal<br />

disarm procedure.<br />

3.5. Faulty Situations<br />

• The <strong>UniAlert</strong> is capable of detecting<br />

are Tamper protected.<br />

<strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

A Tamper switch protects <strong>UniAlert</strong><br />

from any removal attempts away<br />

from its wall mounting bracket.<br />

• Device low battery<br />

If the battery voltage of Remote Keypad,<br />

or Remote Controller is low, a Device Low<br />

Battery message will be reported.<br />

• <strong>GSM</strong> not ready<br />

If the SIM card is found missing,<br />

improperly in<strong>se</strong>rted, PUK/PIN code<br />

locked, no <strong>GSM</strong> reception, or faulty, the<br />

Green LED will flash to indicate.<br />

3.5.1. Fault Event Respon<strong>se</strong><br />

• In all modes, the <strong>UniAlert</strong> and the external<br />

sirens will NOT sound audible siren for<br />

fault event (except Sabotaged/Tamper<br />

alarm).<br />

• In all modes, when AC power<br />

failure/restore, Device low battery/restore,<br />

or <strong>UniAlert</strong>/Device Tamper open/restore,<br />

the <strong>UniAlert</strong> will <strong>se</strong>nd fault report by SMS<br />

(both SMS Text message to u<strong>se</strong>r and<br />

SCID to the Central Monitoring Station).<br />

Once the fault is restored, the <strong>UniAlert</strong> will<br />

also report the restore event by SMS to<br />

the telephone numbers.<br />

• AC Power Fail<br />

The Green LED will flash slowly<br />

(60ms On / 2.5s Off) and an AC<br />

Fault Report will be <strong>se</strong>nt after 30<br />

<strong>se</strong>c.<br />

When AC is restored for more than<br />

30 <strong>se</strong>c, an AC Restore Report will<br />

be <strong>se</strong>nt and the Green LED will<br />

stop flashing.<br />

• <strong>UniAlert</strong> Low Battery<br />

When the <strong>UniAlert</strong> low battery is<br />

detected, Green LED will flash<br />

slowly (60ms On / 2.5s Off) and a<br />

Low Battery Report will be <strong>se</strong>nt<br />

after 30 <strong>se</strong>c.<br />

When Low Battery is restored for<br />

more than 30 <strong>se</strong>c, a Low Battery<br />

Restore Report will be <strong>se</strong>nt and the<br />

Green LED will stop flashing.<br />

• Sensor Low Battery<br />

When low battery is detected on<br />

any <strong>se</strong>nsor, Green LED will flash<br />

quickly (60ms On / 500ms Off) and<br />

a Device Low Battery Report will be<br />

4.1. Re<strong>se</strong>t Procedure<br />

Setting<br />

• When the system is off, and Tamper is<br />

protruding (open):<br />

Step 1. Press and hold the 3 key while<br />

powering up. Relea<strong>se</strong> the button when<br />

a long beep is heard.<br />

Step 2. Enter 258009. A ding-dong sound will<br />

be heard to confirm all <strong>se</strong>ttings are<br />

restored to factory default.<br />

Step 3. 2 short beeps will then be heard to<br />

indicate the system is now in Disarm<br />

mode:<br />

• When the system on and is in Disarm<br />

mode:<br />

Step 1. Enter Programming mode by keying in<br />

the Master Code then press the<br />

Disarm key twice.<br />

<br />

The <strong>se</strong>cond Disarm key must be<br />

pres<strong>se</strong>d within 0.5 <strong>se</strong>cond.<br />

Step 2. When successfully entered<br />

Programming mode, the Green & Red<br />

LED will flash alternately.<br />

Step 3. Enter the command by pressing<br />

“ 982580 ”.<br />

Step 4. Exit Programming mode by pressing<br />

“ 99 ”.<br />

For all programming commands<br />

entered, 2 beeps will be heard to<br />

confirm the command is accepted and<br />

executed. On the other hand, 4 beeps<br />

will be heard to indicate the command<br />

is errounous or unacceptable.<br />

Once the Factory Re<strong>se</strong>t is executed,<br />

all the programmed data are returned<br />

to its default value and all the devices<br />

having been learnt-in are removed.<br />

You have to do the programming and<br />

learn in the device one by one again.<br />
