Where do tourists go in Brazil?
There are so many things to see and do in Brazil that there is no hope of cramming it all into a two
week holiday! Tourists going only for a fortnight have to concentrate on a small area of the country.
It is possible to spend months travelling around Brazil – and still not see everything! Here we try to
pick out a selection of the biggest attractions.
Tijuca
An impressive expanse of new forest lies in a
national park very close to Rio. Once a natural
forest, it was cut down to make way for coffee
plantations, but the forest has been replanted
and it’s a wonderful place to escape from the
hustle and bustle of the city. It’s also a paradise
for bird watchers because of the large number
of species that live here. There are lots of
walking trails that wind through the forest and
guided tours are also available.

Rio's beaches and carnival
The beaches of this huge Brazilian city are a very important part of city life. During the day, in
the evenings and at weekends, locals go to the sand to talk, relax and play sports. In fact, Rio’s
beaches are bustling, popular places 24 hours a day! People of all ages come to these fabulous
beaches and chill out by the sea. Of course, the Rio Carnival is a world famous event and
thousands of people flock to the city so they can experience it.
