About 40 participants from all over the countryparticipated. In the forenoon, the Chief Guest of the event Dr.P.S. Ramakrishnan, INSA Senior Scientist, School ofEnvironmental Sciences, JNU, New Delhi inaugurated theWorkshop. His keynote speech on Sustainability science wasappreciated by all. Dr. B. Venugopal, Director, NMNHpresented the background paper on Intangible NaturalHeritage in Indian context. The workshop deliberated uponcase studies of various aspects of INH.Dr. P.S. Ramakrishnan delivering the Keynote addressDr. Nandita Chatterjee, Addl. Secretary visiting the newly inauguratedExhibitionProgramme for differently abledMarch 2012)ndth(28 to 29Exhibition on Intangible Natural HeritageAs a backdrop to the National Workshop, a temporary Exhibitionon the theme ‘Intangible Natural Heritage’ was inaugurated bythe Chief Guest Dr. Nandita Chatterjee, Additional Secretary,rdMinistry of Environment & Forests in the afternoon of the 23March 2012. Dr. Venkataraman, Director, Zoological Survey ofIndia, Kolkata was the Guest of Honour. The Exhibition includesexamples of intangible natural heritage in five domains asdefined by the UNESCO and have examples from many statesin the country. Feedback of the Exhibition by the participants ofthe workshop on INH, was a useful exercise.A special workshop for specially challenged children was beingorganized by the Museum in collaboration with an NGO -Association for Learning Performing Arts & Normative Action(ALPANA). The workshop was attended by specially challengedchildren from in and around Delhi/NCR. The various activities inwhich the childern participated included Drawing, Painting,Sketching, Origami, working with Clay & Ceramic, Vasedecoration, Making of Wall hangings, etc. All the participantswere given the token gifts and participation certificates.The resource persons guiding visually-challenged children
