INFLIBNET hastaken up by Information and Library Network Centre recently launched two nationwide ambitious(INFLIBNET) to bring awareness among library projects of E-Journals Consortium and UGCprofessionalsin the of field Information Technology INFONET with the aim to provide full text peerand its application to Library Service in the last three reviewed E-Journals to academic communityyears. After the overwhelming response and across the country free of cost, which is a boon forsuccess of first three PLANNERS, INFLIBNET higher education system in the country. The benefitproposes to organize its fourth event PLANNER- of access to e-resources has also been extended to2006at Mizoram University, Aizawl. INFLIBNET has universities in North East region.successfully organized three PLANNERS indifferent parts of north east in collaboration with theKeeping in view the latest trend, suitable theme anduniversities located in the region on rotation basis insub themes are selected for the convention.Theeach state. First PLANNER was held at NEHU,Shilong, Second at Manipur University, Imphaland, Third at Assam University, Silchar. This eventhas become very popular not only in northeast butalso for professionals for rest of the countries andneighboring countries. This is the fourth in series,which is to be held at Mizoarm University (A CentralUniversity), Aizawl, during 9- 10 November 2006OBJECTIVESIn today's world of abundant electronic resourcesand vast available bandwidth, librarians arecollaborating to harness the potential of digitalinformation and technology to provide betterservice to their users. They are digitizing theinstitutional information for future by exploring thebenefits of open source software for setting up of E-Archives. The main purpose of Digital preservationare to bring together the intellectual output of anacademic institutions. PLANNER-06 will provideplatform for the library professionals in North Eastregion to discuss various emerging issues in thefield of Library and Information Science andperhaps most important is, it will connect people toeach other, in networks of solidarity and mutualunderstanding that transcend national and culturalboundaries.
