These portable Grade-D filtration systems are 

designed to provide breathing air for a specific 

number of workers. The system filters inlet air 

to provide respirator users with Grade-D quality 

air and monitors for CO and/or Oxygen. 

The first stage element filters bulk water and particulate 

and has an auto drain. The second 

stage coalescing filter eliminates atomized oils, 

mists, ultra-fine particulates, and has an auto 

drain. The third stage filter removes organic 

vapors and odors and has a manual drain. Filter 

change indicators are standard on all three 

stages of filtration. Filtration efficiency is 99.99% 

@ .01 micron. All Breather BoxesTM are designed 

to be used in the upright and closed 

position. 

The standard carbon monoxide airline monitor 

operates on disposable 9-volt batteries, 12-volt 

DC line voltage, or 115 VAC for continuous air 

monitoring. An external alarm and light signals 

the workers of high CO content. 

Point-of-Attachment (POA) boxes can extend respirator usage beyond 

300 feet. See page 8 for additional details.

All models can be outfitted with an approved intrinsically safe

The Blast-Air Cart has been designed for the 

sandblast/paint industry and industrial plants 

that need advanced, high-capacity air filtration. 

The Blast-Air 50 pictured is our standard 50 

cfm Breather Box mounted on a BA-1C 

pre-filter cart. Air can be supplied to the cart 

from mobile or plant air compressors and 

pre-filtered through high capacity water, oil, 

and particulate separators located on the 

rear of the rugged steel cart. These rugged 

pre-filters automatically drain large amounts 

of oil and water from mobile compressors 

before it enters the Breather Box . 

This process will extend the filter life 

of the Breather Box and reduce 

maintenance downtime and costs.

BA-1C Blast-Air TM cart only with rear filters and connect hose 

The DUAL-AIR CART has been designed for the customer who 

needs both emergency short duration bottled air and continuous 

duty Grade-D plant air filtration all in one cart. The DUAL-AIR Cart 

provides for both applications on one cart and allows the user to 

convert his existing Air Systems’ Breather Box equipment for use 

on the DUAL-AIR series cart. This new system saves the customer 

time and money and provides a level of emergency response not 

available in the past. 

The DUAL-AIR cart is ordered complete with a built-in high pressure 

(5000 psi) regulator, 2 high pressure (CGA-347) connect 

whips with hand tight nuts, and one low pressure connect hose 

from the regulator. The connect hose attaches to the Breather Box 

when cylinder air is required. The cylinder air passes through the 

filter system and is distributed to the respirators through the 

Breather Box manifold and regulator system. A rear collapsible 

hose rack, pneumatic 10” tires, bottle straps, and front storage box 

are supplied standard on the DUAL-AIR Cart system. 

Contact our Customer Service department for assistance when 

retrofitting your existing Breather Box as special mounting hardware 

may be required on the DUAL-AIR Cart.

FULLY AUTOMATIC RESERVE AIR SYSTEM FOR WORK IN HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENTS 

WHAT IS AN AUTO-AIR SYSTEM? 

The Auto-Air TM filtration system was developed to provide Grade-D breathing 

air with automatic reserve air in the event of either electrical failure or 

reduced pressure from the main air source while working in IDLH or hazardous 

environments. In the event of a pressure or electrical failure, the Auto- 

Air TM system automatically switches to the reserve air cylinder(s). Local and 

optional remote alarms signal the workers that the primary air system has 

failed and switched to the back-up air system. 

NIOSH requires the use of a 5 minute airline escape respirator when working 

in IDLH environments. Our Auto-Air TM feature does not replace the NIOSH 

requirement, however, some work environments may require a 30-minute (or 

longer) airline escape method to safely egress the hazardous area. This situation 

would require the use of an Auto-Air TM Breather Box TM or Cart. (See page 

4 for Auto-Air TM Cart information).

These fixed Grade-D filtration systems are designed to provide breathing air 

for a specific number of workers. The system filters inlet air to provide respirator

REMOTE AIR MANIFOLDS 

The Point-Of-Attachment (POA) series provides remote manifold capability for 

respirator users, while complying with NIOSH regulations. The POA series 

consists of a regulator, pressure gauge, safety relief valve, and fitting congruency 

necessary for proper respirator operation. The POA box can be located 

any distance from the Grade-D filtration Breather-BoxTM POINT OF ATTACHMENT SERIES

Air Systems’ breathing air quality test kits are designed to test the air 

produced by compressors (Model LP-A4) and compressed air in 

cylinders (Model HP-A4 and HP- 

A445). These tests are accomplished

a “go/no go” test of the air quality. 

If a high reading is found,

AIR TEST METER 

The Model AQT-O2 Air Quality Test Meter has been developed 

out of a need to test rented cylinder blended air quality 

before putting them to use. Obtain an immediate and accurate 

oxygen (O2) reading for both high pressure cylinder air and low 

pressure plant air lines. The tester can be ordered 

with an additional sensor to read carbon monoxide (CO) simultaneously 

with oxygen (O2), order Model AQT-COO2. The tester 

requires two 9-volt batteries for operation and is supplied with 5

The Twin-Air Compressor system is designed to provide Grade-D breathing air to 3 workers wearing pressure demand respirators. The TA-3 

has twin ASME receiver tanks that act as the mounting frame for the compressor. The use of the receiver tanks provides air that has been 

cooled to within 10 degrees of the ambient temperature. We’ve added pneumatic tires for ease of mobility in rough terrain and a bottom skid 

plate for going up and down stairs. This plate becomes the frame for the addition of a reserve air cylinder on the model TA-3EA. Any 30 or 60 

minute air cylinder can be installed on the TA-3 frame. With the addition of a pressure reducing regulator and an Auto-Air Breather Box , you 

now have a 3-worker compressor with fully automatic backup air for IDLH applications. This compressor is not designed for use with

Air Systems offers two large, high volume, oilless compressors that deliver a 

maximum 15 psi. These pumps operate only constant flow respirators. Due to 

high output air temperatures, a small receiver tank or a COOL-BOX is recommended 

to provide cool air to the workers. A six outlet manifold or straight pipe 

outlet is supplied standard.

All air pumps deliver output air temperatures ranging 

between 140-180 o F. The low cost solution to 

cool the pump’s air is to order Air Systems’ air pump 

mounted on the ASME Twin-Air tank/cart frame 

assembly. Output air temperatures will be approximately 

20 o above the ambient temperature. The 

system has large tires for ease of mobility and storage. 

Each tank is supplied with a manual moisture 

drain valve. A COOL-BOX can be ordered for additional 

cooling.

unit has been designed and tested by professional firefighters 

to meet the changing industry and NFPA requirements.

Rescue Teams 

The MACK-NFPA series has been developed specifically for the 

Fire/Rescue teams working under NFPA guidelines. The NFPA version 

of the MACK unit comes in two standard models. Each model has 

two separate regulator/manifold systems. Two SCBA connect whips 

are provided for each regulator. In the event of a regulator malfunction, 

rescue can be performed on the standby regulator system. The 

basic unit described above, Model MACK-NFPA1, can have a regulator 

isolation valve added to allow one or both air sources to be used 

simultaneously; this addition forms the Model MACK-NFPA3 which 

has a CGA-347 high pressure inlet included. 

RP-1H

The RESCUE-PAK was designed for the fire and rescue teams 

that want to keep all their respiratory gear in one water-tight 

case. Two respirators and two 50 ft. hose sections will easily 

store in the unit along with a single one hour 87cf air cylinder. 

An optional CGA-347 inlet can be installed for direct connection 

to an external bank of cylinders for 

long duration rescues. A fold down 

handle and roller wheels are built in the 

case. Standard hardware includes a

MOBILE BREATHING AIR TRAILER SERIES 

The AIR RESPONDER TM series of breathing air trailers have been designed for mobile quick response at an economical 

price. These trailers provide breathing air for airline respirators, rescue air tools, or SCBA quick filling. The AIR RESPON- 

DER TM comes in two series. The 100 series is an open frame six (6) cylinder trailer. The 200 series is an enclosed eight 

(8) cylinder trailer with optional side storage compartments. Both trailers have a rear air control panel with respirator 

couplings and CGA-347 fittings to bulk fill the storage cylinders and provide for attachment of a quick fill hose for SCBA 

filling. An optional cascade fill panel is available for both trailer series. The front of each trailer will hold optional storage 

boxes, small fill compressors, or generators.

Air Systems’ Portable FUME-AIR 750 is used mainly 

for source capture of welding smoke and fumes. 

Different filter combinations can make the Portable 

Fume Extractor (PFE) units very versatile and cost 

effective for the job required. The Portable Fume 

Extractor series operates at less than 80dbA. A nonmetallic 

fumehood is placed on the 360 o rotating 

adjustable arm and is supplied with an adjustable 

damper to control air flow velocity at the capture 

site. The contaminated air is drawn in through the 

arm or central duct; clean filtered air is exhausted 

through the sides and bottom of the cabinet. 

FILTER SET-UP 

Air passes through the first stage poly pre-filter 

(1) and captures large particulate. The prefilter 

assembly is supplied with a reusable 

steel frame in which only the filter material is 

removed and replaced. The standard main filter 

(2), 99% HEPA, captures and removes 

even the smallest smoke particles. If desired, a 

third stage filter (3) can be supplied; this 

optional third stage is a carbon filter for 

removal of hydrocarbon based vapors and

Hazardous material vacuums are equipped with a HEPA filter system consisting of 

a certified absolute filter, a double layer intermediate micro filter, and a totally 

enclosed 2-ply disposable paper filter bag. The HEPA filter has a steel outer casing 

and micro-fibered glass paper filter media separated by corrugated aluminum 

sheeting that is encased in a protective steel screen. All HEPA filters are rated 

with a minimum efficiency of 99.97% at 0.3 microns. They are tested using the 

HOT DOP method @ 100cfm, UL 586 certified, maximum 1” resistance. Model

Air Systems has developed two low cost disposable 

10 gallon recovery canisters for vacuuming hazardous 

dry or damp material. All models have a 

stainless steel HEPA filter, DOP tested, certified 

to UL-586 and UL-900, Class 2 standards. The 4 

filter is manufactured to meet ASME AG-1, 

Section FC specifications. Flow rate, 110cfm @ 1” 

WG.

The canister model VCF-1415GN can be used as a satellite HEPA recovery unit placed in a 

contaminated environment. An external vacuum, outside the contaminated area, is used 

as the vacuum source. The model VCF-1415NM has been designed to handle a removable 

air motor assembly directly attached to the top of the canister. Both units are 

designed to be disposed of after filing thus avoiding costly decontamination and DOP

PRODUCTIVITY 

The KOOL-VEST TM has been designed for increased worker 

productivity and reduce heat stress to improve worker 

safety. Fresh air is distributed through small holes in the 

vest to provide evaporative cooling across the worker’s 

back, chest, and face. The vest operates with only 10- 

20psi and will accommodate a vortex cooling tube, Air 

Systems’ Cool-Box TM or straight airline hose as pictured 

below.
