PROTECTION WHERE YOU NEED IT
The PRG Series 400 400 Amp Disconnect provides superior protection
for high current AC power distribution systems used to support
live entertainment productions. The Series 400 Disconnect is
designed with rugged applications in mind, offering durability, portability,
and safety protection, along with extensive power monitoring
and convenience features.
APPLICATION
A Disconnect unit is required when 5-wire, 4/0 AWG feeder cables,
greater than 10 feet in length, are connected between a house service
of greater than 400 Amps per phase and a portable power distribution
system. The Disconnect will interrupt the 3-phase current
flow under fault conditions, preventing dangerous overloads of the
feeder cables. The Series 400 Disconnect may be used with the
PRG Series 400 Power and Data Distribution System, other power
distribution systems, or with portable power sources (generators) as
long as its ratings are not exceeded and an adequate Earth ground
has been established.
CONNECT AND PROTECT
Six high current connections are provided for input power, while
twelve connections provide two complete sets of output power.
Double Neutral connectors handle excessive neutral currents generated
by low power factor loads, such as dimmers, to fully protect
the system. Power monitoring features include seven digital LED
meters which provide easily-readable 3-digit values, three voltmeters
to measure the phase voltages present at the input - providing assurance
that the supply voltage is correct before the Main Breaker is
switched On - and four current meters which monitor each phase
and the neutral circuit. In addition, neon indicators are provided to
show when the feed cable is energized.
ABOVE AND BEYOND
Solid copper bus bars are used exclusively in all high-current circuitry
to reduce losses and internal heating. This reduces the number of
connections and eliminates high-current crimps. All Cam-Lok connectors
are solidly bolted and locked to the bus bars, ensuring a long
lasting, low resistance joint and maintenance-free life. To complete
the package, the Series 400 Disconnect offers color coded, insulated
test points for metering output voltage and local convenience
outlets including 120V Edison, 208V Neutrik® PowerCon®, 208V
L6-20R, and 120V/208V L21-30R styles.
Features
• Six Cam-Lok Series E1016 high current connections
for input power.
• Two sets of six Cam-Lok Series E1016 high current
connectors for output power.
• Double Neutral connectors to handle excessive
neutral currents generated by low power factor
loads such as dimmers.
• Seven digital LED meters to monitor power
flow, easily readable in direct sunlight.
• Three voltmeters to measure phase voltages,
ensuring that supply voltage is correct before
the Main Breaker is switched On.
• Four current meters to measure current flowing
in each phase and in the neutral circuit.
• Adjustable control for setting inrush limit.
• Five color coded, insulated test points for
metering output voltages.
• Local convenience outlets for temporary connection
of loads during early stages of set up.
• Solid copper rigid bus bars and two thermostatically
controlled cooling fans allow operation at
100% of Rated current.
• Suitable for use in U.S. and Canada, or in any
locality with a 5-wire, 120/208V power grid.
• Compact, rugged rolling rack design.
Series 400 400 Amp Disconnect Specifications
The PRG Series 400 400 Amp Disconnect shall be mounted in a Rolling Rack with two removable
covers exposing the connector and control panels of the unit. Two locking casters shall keep the
unit in place when connected.
Solid copper bus bars shall be used in all high - current circuitry, reducing losses and internal heating.
Two thermostatically controlled cooling fans shall be mounted within the enclosure and shall turn on
when internal bus bar temperatures reach 55°C. Replaceable metal air filters shall cover fan inlets.
Six Cam-Lok Series E1016 high current connections shall be provided for input power. Double
Neutral connectors shall handle excessive neutral currents generated by low power factor loads.
Neon lamps shall indicate when the cable feeding the Disconnect is energized. Twelve Cam-Lok
Series E1016 high-current connectors shall be provided for output power. Safety covers shall be
provided for all outputs.
A thermal-magnetic Main Breaker shall protect circuit wiring so that long term operation at currents
in excess of rated will cause it to trip, while magnetic elements respond quickly to overloads resulting
from fault current surges. The Main Breaker shall tolerate momentary overcurrent conditions caused
by inrush currents to prevent nuisance tripping when such loads are energized with full line voltage.
The inrush limit shall be adjustable from 2000 to 4000 Amps by a slider control.
A green LED Pilot Light shall indicate when the Main Breaker is ON. Operation of the LED may be
checked when the Main Breaker is OFF by pushing in on the lens cap causing the LED to light. Seven
digital LED meters shall monitor the power flowing through the Disconnect. Three voltmeters shall
measure phase voltages present at the input to the Main Breaker. A rocker switch shall allow connection
of the meters between the three phases (Ø-Ø) or between each phase and neutral (Ø-N).
Four current meters shall measure the current flowing in each phase and in the neutral circuit. The
current meters shall be isolated from the AC line by current transformers. The meters shall display
a full-wave averaging, RMS calibrated value.
Five color coded, insulated test points shall be provided for metering the output voltages after the
Main Breaker. Local convenience outlets shall provide protected branch circuits: One 120V, 15 Amp
single phase circuit serving two Edison outlets; One 208V, 15 Amp single phase circuit serving two
Neutrik® PowerCon® outlets; One 208V, 20 Amp single phase circuit serving one NEMA L6-20R
outlet; and one 120V/208V, 30 Amp 3-phase, 5-wire circuit serving two NEMA L21-30R outlets.
The Series 400 Disconnect shall be approved for use in the U.S. and Canada, or in any locality with
a 5-wire, 120/208V power grid. The unit is also suitable for use with portable power sources (generators)
as long as its ratings are not exceeded and an adequate Earth ground has been established.
The unit shall conform to UL Standard 1640, be certified to Canadian Standard CAN/CSA STD C22.2
No. 29, and shall carry the Intertek ETL safety mark. The unit shall be used in dry locations only and
may be operated with the front rack cover in place, if desired.
