ScrapMetalandAppliancesAllCountywastefacilitiesacceptappliancesandscrapmetalforrecycling.Regulardisposalfeesapplysincethecostofmanagingthematerialexceedsrevenuereceived.Acceptablematerialsinclude:bicycles,swingsets,wire,toasterovens,aluminumsiding,ladders,potsandpans,stairwayrailings,tirerims,desks,filingcabinets,metalfencing,furnaces,lawnmowers,BBQ's,etc.Appliances(WhiteGoods)Whitegoodsarelargeappliancessuchasfridges*,freezers*,dehumidifiers*,airconditioners*,waterheaters,stoves,washingmachines,clothesdryersanddishwashers.*AppliancesContainingFreonOntarioMinistryoftheEnvironment(MOE)Regulation347requiresthatitemscontainingozone-depletinggaseshavetherefrigerantmaterial(Freon)removedbyaMinistrycertifiedtechnician.Donotattempttoremovetherefrigerantwasteyourself.TheCountyprovidesFreonremovalservicefor$15,inadditiontotheregularwastedisposalfee.ThischargewillonlybewaivediftheappliancehasanofficialtagconfirmingthattheFreonwasremovedbyanMOEcertifiedtechnician.TheCountyhasdivertedanaverageofover685metrictonnes(1.5millionlbs.)ofscrapmetalandapplianceseachyearsince2001.
